CLAT 2022 Latest Updates: Center in Kolkata & Order for PWD Students Revised

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) recently updated CLAT 2022 details. With less than a week left for the test, students must regularly check the updates on their official website. Lately, the authorities have revised exam venues in Bhopal. Similarly, 1 exam center in Kolkata has also been renamed. Besides, the authorities have also published a circular with revised instructions for PWD (persons with disabilities) students. CLAT 2022 Latest Updates: Kolkata Test Centre Renamed
The University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, has been renamed – the Institute of Engineering & Management. As this was a designated CLAT exam center, those allotted this venue will have to re-download their admit cards. Students’ admit cards highlight important details, including the test center’s name. Therefore, students bound to take the exam at this venue must ensure that their admit card contains the updated name. However, only the center’s name has changed, but the venue’s address remains the same.
Additionally, if you find any discrepancies in your admit card, then immediately contact the authorities. You can write to them at – clat@consortiumofnlus.ac.in or call them at – 084047162020. Also, note that their office hours are between 10 AM to 5 PM on working days only.

Provisions for PWD & SAP Candidates
The Consortium released a circular on June 11, stating revised guidelines for disabled students appearing for CLAT 2022. Students applying for the test as – Person With Disabilities (PWD) or Specially- Abled People (SAP) must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Section 2(r) of the RPWD Act, 2016, defines ‘benchmark disability.’ Candidates applying as disabled students must prove their disability abiding by the rules stated in the act.
- The provision of a reader or a transcriber is permitted to those with benchmark disabilities. Students with difficulties in writing, blindness, locomotor disabilities, and cerebral palsy can avail this provision.
- However, in the case of other disabilities, students must produce a recognized certificate to access the facility of using a reader or a transcriber.
- A doctor from a government clinic must endorse the certificate.
- Authorities will give these students an additional 40 minutes to complete their examination.
- Appendix – I and other documents, including the disability certificate, must be submitted to the regional and zonal administrator before June 15.
- The aid or helper designated to assist the disabled student must be junior to the candidate in terms of qualification. The transcriber or reader details (Appendix – II) must also be submitted to the regional and zonal administrators.
- Students can choose their scribers or readers, although they must meet the criteria.
- Carry your disability certificate for the exam.
Note: students must ensure that the respective authorities receive Appendix I & II along with the ‘undertaking for scribe’ provision before June 15.
