DU Admission 2022: The University to Accept CUET for Admissions
The DU Admission 2022 procedure has been revised as per the new government regulations. It is now compulsory for all to take CUET.
Delhi University’s Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, has stated that the university will now consider CUET (Central Universities Entrance Test) for college admissions starting this year. The government of India has made it mandatory for public universities to use CUET for admissions. DU admission 2022 will now follow the same guidelines. Here’s everything you need to know before applying to one of the most desired universities in the country.
CUET Exam Structure for DU Admission 2022
Students seeking enrollment at DU will now have to take CUET. Their class 12 results will not be the sole parameter for admission. Therefore, it is important that students know all about the CUET exam structure and prepare accordingly. Here are some major points to keep in mind: –
- It is a Computer Based Test (CBT) that includes 3 sections.
- Section 1 tests the students’ grasp of languages. This section is subdivided into two categories, 1A & 1B.
- 1A is a 45-minute test wherein candidates would have to choose at least 1 language from the following: English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Odiya, Assamese, and Punjabi.
- 1B is optional. However, if a DU applicant wants to pursue a course in one of the additional languages, they would only have to appear for the exam. These languages include – German, French, Italian, Spanish, Persian, Arabic, Nepali, Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan, Russian, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Konkani, Kashmiri, Singhi, Dogri, and Bodo.
- Section 2 tests the students’ knowledge of their choice of major, which is their core subject. Candidates can choose 6 from up to 27 domain subjects. Additionally, DU has categorised this section into B1 and B2.
- B1 consists of 18 subjects that DU offered before the induction of CUET. These include subjects such as – Accountancy/Book Keeping, Biology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Geography/Geology, History, Home Science, Legal Studies, Environmental Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, and Sanskrit.
- B2 includes new subjects such as – Entrepreneurship, Engineering Graphics, Knowledge Tradition & practises in India, Fine/Virtual Arts, Performing Arts, Commercial Arts, Teaching Aptitude, Mass Communication, Agriculture, Physical Education/NCC/Yoga.
- Candidates will have to choose at least 3 domain subjects from Section 2. Moreover, they have to be according to their course requirements, which can be found on their website.
- Section 3 tests a student’s general knowledge. This section, albeit, is only for particular courses under DU. If this does not fall under the course requirement, students can avoid this section.
- This is an hour-long exam that contains current affairs, general knowledge, quantitative reasoning, and the application of mathematical concepts.
