The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has successfully conducted the GATE Civil Engineering (CE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) 2022 exam. They conducted the CE exam’s first shift (forenoon shift) from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. In contrast, shift 2 (afternoon shift) was from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Furthermore, officials scheduled the GATE ME 2022 exam in two shifts – Morning and Evening. The GATE exam for the morning shift was conducted from 9 AM to 12 PM, while the evening shift timings are 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
GATE 2022 CE Exam Shift 1 and 2 Analysis
According to candidates who appeared in the GATE CE paper, the question paper was easy, except for some General Aptitude questions, which were difficult. Moreover, the overall difficulty level was moderate. The GATE CE question papers comprise 7 MSC, 35 MCQ, and 23 NAT questions. There was only one question from SOM modular ratio. Environmental and Geotechnical engineering had high weightage with 11 marks each.
The GATE CE paper for shift 2 had 7 MSC, 34 MCQ and 24 NAT questions, similar to shift 1. The difficulty level of shift 2 GATE CE paper was equal to that of shift 1, which is medium. Only one question was from structural dynamics, whereas the highest number of questions were asked from geotechnical, environmental, and transportation engineering.
GATE CE Cut-Off
Authorities will release the GATE civil cutoff along with the results on 17 March. Afterwards, applicants can check the minimum marks to qualify for the GATE 2022 exam. Then, the qualified candidates can apply for admissions in post-graduation or PSU recruitment through GATE. Authorities consider certain factors while preparing the cutoff, such as level of difficulty and cutoff trends.
GATE 2022 ME Exam Shift 1 and 2 Analysis
GATE ME 2022 exam was average in difficulty level. The GATE Mechanical Paper consists of 5 MSQ, 25 MCQ and 35 NAT. Many GATE ME candidates informed that the heat transfer had high weightage in the GATE ME question paper. However, the GATE ME 2022 paper’s difficulty level was harder than the previous year. The GATE 2022 questions in ME in the General Aptitude section were easy, while the Engineering Mathematics section was moderate.
GATE ME shift 2 paper concluded at 5:30 PM. After appearing in the GATE 2022 ME shift 2 paper, candidates said that the IITKGP Mechanical paper was moderately difficult. The difficulty level of the paper was similar to that of the forenoon shift. GATE ME shift 2 paper had 6 MSQ, 35 MCQ and 24 NAT. Additionally, the question paper had a high weightage of Engineering Mechanics, SOM, Industrial, Manufacturing and HMT. Three questions in the question paper were from Power Plant.
GATE ME Cut-Off
IIT KGP conducts the GATE 2022 exam for 29 subjects. Thus, applicants who appeared for the IIT GATE exam on 5 and 6 February can now check the exam analysis. Furthermore, authorities will release the GATE 2022 results on 17 March online. Afterwards, applicants can check the GATE results through their login credentials.
