IC Manufacturing & VLSI Design & Technology: 2 New Courses Approved by AICTE
The AICTE has introduced 2 new courses - IC Manufacturing & VLSI Design & Technology to develop the field of display and semiconductors.
The semiconductors and display manufacturing community in India gets a massive boost as AICTE approves two new courses in the field. The All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) has given the green light to 2 new courses in IC Manufacturing & VLSI Design & Technology. Moreover, the courses are Diploma in Integrated Circuit (IC) Manufacturing and B.Tech or B.E. Electronics in VLSI Design and Technology.
IC Manufacturing & VLSI Design & Technology: Aim
The AICTE office, via its letter to all the Vice-Chancellors, declared the aim behind introducing these courses. The main aim is to prepare a pool of talented professionals who are market-ready in the field. Albeit, the letter made specific points clear, which include:
- These courses are part of the Indian Cabinet’s decision to develop India’s semiconductors and display manufacturing ecosystem in India.
- Additionally, they emphasized that Indian ambitions in the field would demand such educational curriculums. It is essential to have talented market-ready professionals, to excel in this field.
- These professionals can then work on a roadmap of capacity building.
- Lastly, all eligible institutes may start the courses. However, their approval depends on satisfying the guidelines laid in the Approval Handbook (APH) 2022-23 for starting a new course.
The model curriculum for these courses will be published soon. Interested students can check the AICTE website for further information.
