KEA Draws Alternative Rank List for CET Repeaters – More Details Here

KCET Rank List 2022: The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has created an alternative KCET Rank List 2022 by accounting for II PUC and CET-2022 marks in a 50:50 and 75:25 ratio for repeaters, in an effort to be ready for any circumstances that may arise, even though the State government has challenged the September 3 High Court order on CET-2022 repeaters.

These alternate KCET Rank List 2022 show that just five students will fit into the 1 to 1,000 rank group if KEA considers repeaters’ CET and II PUC marks in a ratio of 75:25, and 64 repeaters will do so in a ratio of 50:50. In addition, 10,056 students will be ranked between 1,000 and 1 lakh if a 75:25 ratio is used, while 19,801 repeaters will be ranked in this range if a 50:50 ratio is used.

A total of 24,074 repeaters took the CET-2022 this year to get admitted to professional programs like engineering. For freshers, KEA took into account II PUC marks and CET marks in a 50:50 ratio before announcing the results. However, it didn’t take repeaters’ II PUC marks into account and only considered marks from the CET-2022. Repeaters had passed II PUC in 2021 without writing exams, as marks were awarded through a special scheme formulated in view of COVID-19.

Only 3,521 of the 24,074 repeaters were ranked between 1,000 and 1 lakh positions using this technique of grading and ranking, which only took CET scores into account. Only one student received a rank higher than 1,000. Only 70 students fit into the 10,000–15,000 rank range, and 514 students fit into the 90,000 to 1 lakh rank range.

This method of ranking was challenged in the High Court, which overruled the CET-2022 engineering rankings and enforced that the State government and the KEA redo the CET-2022 ranking by using the II PUC and CET-2022 marks, even for the petitioner students (repeaters) who have passed II PUC in 2021.

This order has now been challenged by the State government. While this was going on, KEA also prepared alternate ranking lists using a 75:25 and 50:50 ratio of the CET and II PUC marks.
