The research areas for PhD programmes offered by the institute include Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Chemical, Structural and Computational Biology. The admissions will be conducted based on the candidate's performance in the NII-2023 or JGEEBILS-2023 exams and the following interview phase.

Candidates must follow the steps given below to apply for the National Institute of Immunology PhD Admission 2023:
- Visit the official website: nii.res.in
- Click on the link for PhD Admission 2023 in the 'Events' bar
- On the next page, go to the online application
- Once on the online application portal, click on the 'New User' button and proceed to fill out the registration form
- Then log in using the credentials generated at the time of registration
- Proceed to fill out the application form
- Make the payment of the application fee, i.e., INR 1200
- Finally, submit and take a printout of the filled-out application form
Further, the NII Admit card 2023 will be released on Feb 7, 2023. The NII Exam 2023 will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode on Feb 26.
NII PhD admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria for National Institute of Immunology PhD Admission 2023:
- A Masters of Science (M.Sc.) degree in any branch (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics etc.) or M.Tech. or MBBS or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification, as per the JNU Delhi norms
- General category candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% in their Class 12 and Bachelor and also should have scored a minimum of 55% in their masters. However, a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks has been given to candidates from reserved categories (OBC (non-creamy layer; NCL), SC/ST, and PwD)
- Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination this academic year are also eligible to apply.
