NEET PG 2022 Application and Internship Deadline; SC to hear plea

The Supreme Court will hear a plea regarding the application deadline of NEET PG 2022 and the internship on 8 February 2022. Therefore, the Union Health Ministry postponed NEET PG to 21 May, which was initially going to be on 12 March.

A petition was filed by 6 MBBS graduates in the Supreme Court on 25 January 2022; seeking to postpone the NEET PG 2022 exam. This is to avoid clashing with the NEET PG 2021 counselling dates and mandatory internship period required as per regulations.

Thus, the postponement of NEET PG has provided significant relief to petitioners, but some issues remain unresolved. The deadline for completing the internship is 31 May 2022; which is difficult to meet as the doctors were assisting in COVID-19 duty after the announcement by PM Modi.

Many MBBS graduates will be ineligible to appear for the exam due to the lack of mandatory internship duty; as they were assisting in tackling the ongoing pandemic. The extension of the application deadline and the completion of the internship provide great relief to hundreds of aspiring MBBS graduates.
