QS World University Ranking List 2022; 2 Indian Institutes in Top 50

This year, the QS World University Rankings for 2022 has placed IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Ahmedabad as the top business school within India. Furthermore, this year’s NIRF list also concurred that IIM-Ahmedabad stands as the number one MBA college in the country. The NIRF, or the National Institute of Ranking Framework, is a government report published annually by the Education Minister.

IIM-A is among the top 50 business schools in the world, in 46th place internationally. Afterwards, IIM-Bangalore has placed second in India at 50th rank worldwide, followed by IIM-Calcutta at 76th place. Thus, two Indian business schools are part of the global top 50 this year. Notably, these three universities also hold the top three current positions in the same order within the recently published NIRF report.

Once again, Stanford Graduate School of Business has obtained first place globally in the list. Afterwards,  two universities stand in second place together, Wharton (Penn) and Harvard Business School. Some other notable Indian B-schools mentioned in the report were the Indian School of Business at 92nd rank and IIM-Indore at 151st place.

The QS World University Ranking list has multiple factors to its methodology. Firstly, several surveys worldwide take place routinely within both the academic and workplace sectors. Secondly, the organisation takes into account hard data regarding each of the 1,300 screened institutions worldwide. Several independent studies have confirmed the reliability of the results. The researchers took into account five basic parameters, each with pertinent weightage. institutional diversity (10%), thought leadership (15%), return on investment (20%), entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes (15%), and employability (40%)
