UGC Latest Guidelines
Students must refer to the information below to understand the UGC's Latest Guidelines.
- The guidelines have put restrictions on colleges to limit their contractual staff to those that were a part of the 2018 guidelines. The limitation should be 10 per cent of the total faculty strength.
- Further, these academic instructions will also get the liberty to start certificate or diploma courses without prior approval of the parent university. This way, they can offer degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with PhD programmes. However, here the approval of the academic council is mandatory.
- Note that the grant of autonomy will be based on the accreditation and assessment scores of the colleges.
- Furthermore, the autonomous status will be granted for ten years only if the college is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with at least an 'A' Grade with a score of 3.01 and above.
- Similarly, the institutions can also be granted the status provided they are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for at least three programmes with a minimum score of 675 individually.
The official notification read that "All recruitments of Teaching Faculty/Principal shall be made by the Governing Body/state government as applicable in accordance with the policies laid down by the UGC and State Government from time to time,"
Subsequently, the guideline states that the "Accreditation status must be valid for at least one year at the time of application submission." Students are advised to visit the official website regularly for further updates and information regarding the UGC guidelines.
