One of the main focus areas of the National Education Strategy 2020 is teaching using Indian regional languages.

The letter written by Kumar highlighted the key area of focus of the National Education Policy 2020 is teaching through the Indian regional language and the police emphasise the role of teaching in the mother tongue.
The policy strongly focuses on the value of using mother language instructions and instructional resources. It is encouraging to see that higher education institutions in our nation encourages textbooks written in the regional languages, said Jagaidesh Kumar.
In many undergraduate social sciences, business, and science programmes at colleges and universities, instructions are provided in regional languages. To enhance the Gross Enrolment Ratio from 27% to 50% by 2035 and to boost access to underprivileged social groups, and improve the reach, it is important to promote the creation or translation of textbooks and the teaching process at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels of higher education.
