UPSC Launches OTR Facility: The one-time registration facility aims to facilitate easy access to future examinations for aspirants. OTR requires you to fill in your basic information at the registration platform. Therefore, this allows the conducting body to use the OTR details whenever a candidate wishes to sit for different recruitment exams. In turn, making the entire process smooth.
Students from all over the country apply for multiple exams throughout the year, which is why the authorities have devised the OTR platform to save time and simplify it. Additionally, authorities will save these details in a secured facility on the Commissioner’s server. The server will auto-fill their details in the forms whenever an applicant logs in to apply for an examination. Hence, eliminating the chances of submitting incorrect information too.
Candidates who wish to register for the OTR process can visit upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in. In addition, the OTR will save 70 per cent of the applicant’s details for future use, reducing significant time when filling out online application forms. However, applicants must be thorough with their information and ensure there are no mistakes. They should also read the instructions provided carefully.

UPSC Launches OTR Facility – FAQs
Subsequently, the commission has released a set of frequently asked questions regarding attempts in the civil service exams. Notably, the exam takes place in three stages. They are Preliminary, Mains and Interview. These are the main stages in selecting IAS, IFS, IPS and other officials.
According to one of the FAQs, candidates belonging to General/ EWS get six attempts, ST/ST get unlimited attempts, and OBCs and Persons with Disability get 9 attempts.
Another FAQ states that candidates who have attempted the preliminary examination are considered to have had an attempt at the civil service exams. Thus, examinees must keep a count on the number of attempts. Authorities will cross-check the information on attempts provided by the candidate with the data preserved by the server. If candidates mislead the exam body, it will lead to a suspension. They will further de-bar them from appearing in that particular exam and for the next 10 years regarding all future selections/exams of the commission.
