The ISO is a group of worldwide annual competitions in various areas of the formal sciences, natural sciences, and social sciences. From each participating country, only the 4-6 best high school students are selected through International Science Olympiads, except the IOL, which allows only two teams per country.
The IOI allows two teams from the hosting country, and the IJSO is designed for junior secondary students. The early editions of the Olympiads were limited to the Eastern Bloc, but later they gradually spread to the other countries.

International Science Olympiad
ISO aims to promote a career in science, challenge the brightest students from around the world, and compare each country's various teaching systems. Although the competitions are aimed at secondary school students, the standards of the exams are extremely high.
In several countries, achieving a high rank in any ISO guarantees access to a university of choice and a fellowship. For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology famously recruits many ISO medalists to its incoming undergraduate class every year.
Science Olympiads are international student competitions. There are 4 commonly recognized subjects in the International Science Olympiad conducted by the HBCSE Exam.
