Tennessee State University is a public and historically black land-grant university in Nashville, Tennessee that is founded in 1912. It is the largest and only state-funded historically black university in Tennessee. It offers 41 bachelor’s degrees, 23 master's degrees, and eight doctoral degrees. Tennessee State University produces the highest number of American African bachelor’s degree holders in agriculture, agriculture-related sciences, and agriculture operations. TSU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission. 

TSU serves over 8,000 students in which there are approx 6,100 are undergraduate and 1,600 are graduated. The admission in TSU is taken under the three intakes fall, spring, and summer. 

All international students have to submit the scores of the tests like TOEFL and IELTS as proof of English proficiency, it is necessary for all those students who are from non-English speaking countries. 

TSU offers limited scholarships to international students. The students must be scored a minimum of 3.5 GPA to avail of the scholarship.

Admission Details

All international applicants have to demonstrate English proficiency through one of the internationally recognized standardized examinations in English as proof of English proficiency. TOEFL: 61 and IELTS: 5.0 test scores are required for admission. Application forms submitted after the deadline date will not be entertained. The scores of the test ACT: 18 and SAT: 420 are also accepted by the admission office. Students have to submit some other documents also:-

Average Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the students at TSU vary according to their course and program. An estimation of the fee according to academic programs is, for the undergraduate programs, the fee must be $4,422 for in-state students and $11,736 for out-state students annually. For the graduate programs, the fee must be $6,079 for in-state students and $13,175 for out-state students annually. 

TSU offers limited scholarships to international students. The students must be scored a minimum of 3.5 GPA to avail of the scholarship. The students can avail the scholarship up to $2,5000 for their full-time education.

The acceptance rate of Tennessee State University is 55% with two intakes per year, Fall and Spring. All applicants have to apply online for admission through online mode, through the Common Application/Online Portal for both UG and PG courses. After paying a non-refundable amount of $25 for UG courses and $35 for PG courses. The mode of payment must be through Credit Card.
