UHD is a comprehensive four-year university renowned in the US education system for providing some unparalleled, quality education at master’s and bachelor's level in nearly 8 and 44 areas of study, respectively. Undergraduate Admissions at The University of Houston-Downtown

UHD provides 44 bachelor’s degree courses. The bachelor’s degree programs include communication studies, English, Fine Arts, Philosophy, criminal justice, mathematics, interdisciplinary studies, etc. Apart from that, various professional and dual degree programs are offered by UHD.

Eligibility Criteria for International Students

  • Official Transcripts
    • Students are required to submit official transcripts in order to apply to the University of Houston- Downtown. These include mark sheets, date of graduation of secondary school. These transcripts need to be in English.
  • Official SAT or ACT Scores
    • The students need to submit their ACT or SAT scores.
  • Affidavit of Support: Students need to submit an affidavit of support. This indicated that a sponsor will be completely responsible for their living and educational expenses.

Application Process for International Students at the University of Houston-Downtown 

UHD has mandated that the students must have completed secondary education with a college preparatory curriculum, fulfilled the minimum grade point equivalency, provided required official academic records, met the appropriate deadlines, and verified financial support for one academic year. According to UHD, a student is considered to be an international student only if the student holds a non-immigrant visa or the student has applied for immigrant status but has not adjusted his/her status with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

  • The international application fee is 80 USD which can be waived for domestic students on request.

  • Financial aid and scholarships are also provided by the University of Houston- Downtown.

UHD admissions are available for fresh intakes in the seasonal terms of Fall, Summer, and Spring. The deadline for submitting the fee for the fall session is May 1. The deadlines for spring and summer are October 1 and April 1, respectively.
