Entrance Exams & Admissions : Fill out the admission form in June -july and streams are out in start of August.Classes start by September (1st or 2nd week) Students are selected on the basis of 12th score or jee scores. PCM percentage for general category was 98% for CSE branch in year 2020.
Placements & Internships : Companies like Microsoft, Apple, JPMC, Amazon, LinkedIn, Flipkart etc take interns and hire students from campus for roles like SDE, SRE etc and along with many other non technical roles as well. average salary is around 13-15 lakhs per annum for CSE branch mostly and highest package in 2022 was 60 LPA. Vast variety of alumni spread all over the industry. They often visit campus for various workshop and interaction with students.
Fees & Scholarships : Fee is almost 5-6 lakhs per year (semester fee+ hostel + mess) Scholarships like merit based on the basis of academic performance and category based scholarships are provided by thapar. About 10% students get the scholarship
Academics & Faculty : Classes start from 8am and end around 6pm with breaks in between. Various assignments and semester projects are given to students in each lab and lectures. Not all professors are good and responsive so students have to cover syllabus by themselves. But overall experience is fair.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 16 hotels in thapar for girls and boys seperate. Hostel fee varies according to hostel, for example hostel fee for hostel Q 2Seater is 56500 and mess fee is 21500 per semester (5months) Students can also take pgs outside thapar that costs them about 16-20k per flat for a month,not sure though. Food is not that good ,you need to adjust with that. Quality of classrooms and labs is good and dining halls are big enough. Though wifi is available on whole campus but wifi quality in hostels is not good and we have to adjust with mobile data most of the times. The Library is vast and beautiful and one of the main attraction of thapar with about 1L + books
Clubs & Associations : Societies like MLSC, CCS, ECHOES, etc are available for technical and for non tech like volunteery services societies like pratigya abhiyan etc are there. main festivals are Saturnalia,Thapar Food fest, etc are big events to enjoy. General life in college is very good as you get to know a lot of people and know how to adjust with different kind of people.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The Eligibility Criteria vary every year like sometimes it is 96 percentage (PCM) in boards and 96 percentile in Jee Mains only for the CSE Derabassi and higher for the CSE Patiala and same goes with the other branches. the cutoff is little low for other branches but there is a difference between the cutoff of the student of Punjab and students outside of Punjab.

Eligibility to take admission in the college is that the candidate should get a minimum of 60% in PCM 12th standard and have a good percentile in JEE Mains. There are many computer's branches in Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, [TIET] Patiala. Approx 1.8K seats are available for computer science branches. COE, ENC, EEC, COSE, CSE, CSBS (these all are branches of computers provided by the college). Truly speaking, there is tough competition to get a seat in computer-related branches. I am studying computer science, and I took JEE Main exam. My admission was based on JEE Main marks and marks scored on 12th boards. Currently, I am in 3rd year and preparing for internships. There is a 50% reservation for Punjab residents, so you can get other branches very easily. But getting into computer science is tough.
Placements & Internships : Many top companies had visited this year (2021). Even at the time of covid, companies like De Shaw, JP Morgan, ION, Texas instruments, Salesforce, Adobe, Providence, Optum have visited, and they all offered above INR 50k as a stipend per month. I am an internship coordinator, and from my experience, the placements and internships in Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, [TIET] Patiala, are good here. Avg CSE placements were INR 13-15 LPA in 2020 and 2019. And the highest package goes around INR 41-45 LPA every year. Almost all students got placed this year. Many mass recruiter companies such as Delloite, Infosys, HCL had visited and offered great packages.
Fees & Scholarships : Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, [TIET] Patiala Fee Structure. The fee for my course is INR 20,00,000 to 21,00,000 in total. Mess and hostel fees for 6 months is INR 70,000 approx. The scholarship is given to students according to their performance. The college gives scholarships to the top 10% of students from each branch based on their JEE Mains and 12th score. To continue with a scholarship for the rest of the semesters, one has to score a high CGPA without any backlog. Thapar has two banks inside the campus, one is SBI, and another is ICICI, which provide student and study loans.
