CSAB special round is conducted for admissions into NIT+ systems after the JoSAA rounds of counselling are complete. Candidates who did not get seats in JoSAA rounds can apply for CSAB counselling. The seats that remain unfilled are considered for the CSAB special round.
Candidates willing to participate in the CSAB rounds must start the process by registering themselves.
CSAB Special Round Registration
Candidates need a new registration for CSAB special round. The JoSAA registration will not work for CSAB. Therefore, here are the steps to register for the same:
- Candidates must register by visiting the CSAB official website.
- Next, they must enter the JEE Main roll number, gender, category, nationality, and all other details as required.
- Candidates must upload a scanned copy of the documents.
- Further, to complete the registration, candidates must pay the registration fee. While paying the registration fee, candidates must enter their bank account details such as name, bank account number, and IFSC code.
Documents Required for CSAB Special Round Registration
There are certain documents required to complete the CSAB special round registration. The documents are as mentioned below, and candidates must upload a scanned copy of each.
- Class X and XII mark sheet
- JEE Main admit card
- Passport (if applicable)
- Category Certificate (applicable for ST, SC, OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS)
- PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- State of Eligibility Certificate (applicable for candidates who passed Class 12th from outside India)
- PWD Candidates will have to upload an Affidavit

Payment of CSAB Special Round Enrollment Fee
Using Net Banking / Debit card / Credit card or State Bank of India e-challan, candidates must pay the CSAB special round registration fee. The details of the fee are mentioned in the table.

Online Choice Filling and Locking for CSAB Special Round
Once the candidates have paid the registration fee, they can advance to filling the fresh seat choices. Candidates must remember that the seats they selected during JoSAA counselling rounds will no longer be valid. It will be considered null and void. Candidates are advised to fill in the fresh choices carefully:
- The registered candidates can fill out the form with their preferred college choice and seats. Further, the screen will display the list of NIT+ system programs for which the candidates satisfy themselves. Besides, candidates are also advised to check the special eligibility criteria for their chosen courses.
- Additionally, candidates must note that the vacant seats displayed to them will be tentative. Some more vacant seats may be declared at the later stage of counselling.
- Further, the candidates who have participated in JoSAA rounds of counselling can also apply for CSAB special round.
- Lastly, candidates must 'lock' their choices before the last registration date. Suppose any candidate forgot to lock their choice; in that case, their last choice will be considered. After the candidates' choices are locked, they cannot make any edits or changes.
- Candidates must download and take a printout of their locked choices. This printout consists of the terms and conditions as agreed by the candidates during choice filling.

CSAB Special Round Seat Allotment
The CSAB special round seat allotment is declared online. Candidates can check their seat allotment list by logging in to the official website. Furthermore, here are some of the important points that candidates should know:
- The CSAB special round seat allotment will be based on the JEE Main rank list.
- Candidates who have secured the seats in the last rounds of JoSAA counselling and are not participating in the CSAB special round can apply for category upgradation against their secured seats. It means that the authorities will retain their earlier allotted seats in the same program and the same institute, but they may upgrade their seats.

CSAB Special Round Seat Choosing Option
Candidates who have filled out the registration form and completed the above process can choose seat options. The options are as follows:
- Freeze: Candidates who freeze the option of the allotted seats accept the seats offered to them.
- Slide: If the candidates believe that the seats allotted are not the ones they want, they can accept the seats and still appear for the next round of counselling. If the candidates get their preferred seats in the next rounds, they can select and keep them.
- Float: The float option is availed by the candidates willing to take a chance and wishes to appear in the forthcoming counselling session but in the same college and course. However, if they are not offered the seats of their choice in the subsequent rounds, they will have to accept the one allotted to them in the first round.
- Surrender: Candidates who wish to reject and surrender their seat allotted in the first round and desire to participate in round 2 of the counselling session opt for this option.
- Withdraw: Suppose the candidate wishes to reject the seat and is not willing to participate in the future rounds of the counselling session can apply for the option. However, no new allotment of seats will be made.

Reporting to the Colleges After CSAB Special Round
All the candidates allotted seats in the CSAB special round must report to the particular college on the assigned date. If the candidates fail to report, their seats will be passed to someone else. Besides that, candidates must note that they must carry all the documents needed for verification during the physical reporting.
Further, they must pay the fee to reserve their seats and complete the admission process.
