The NDA age limit 2023 is between 16.5 to 19.5 years on average. However, the NDA age criteria might differ from one category to another. NDA Age Limit 2023
The minimum age limit for NDA is 15.7 years to 16.5 years. The maximum age limit for NDA is between 18.7 years to 19.5 years. But candidates must fall within the prescribed NDA age limit at the time of the exam. In the case of married students, they are allowed to sit for the NDA exam as long as they fall within the age limit set by NDA.

Though there are no reservations for candidates belonging to OBC and SC/ST candidates, there is an age limit relaxation for OBC and SC/ST candidates.
NDA 1 Age Limit
Candidates who want to appear for the NDA 1 exam must be born between the dates of July 2, 2004 and July 1, 2007. If the candidates are born before July 2, 2004 and after July 1, 2007, they will not be eligible for NDA 1.
NDA 2 Age Limit
Candidates are only eligible for NDA 2 if they are born between January 2, 2004 and January 1, 2007. They will not be eligible to appear for the NDA 2 exam if they are born before January 2, 2004 and after January 1, 2007.
NDA Eligibility criteria
The NDA aspirants must fulfil the primary eligibility criteria to fill the application form and appear for the examination.
Nationality
The nationality of the candidates for the NDA exam must be:
- A citizen of India or
- A subject of Nepal or
- A subject of Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, thinking of permanently settling down in India
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from the following countries with plans of settling or settled permanently in India migrated from:
- Pakistan
- Burma
- Sri Lanka
- East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia
- Vietnam
- A certificate of eligibility issued by the Indian government must be provided by candidates belonging to categories 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Candidates who are Gurkha subjects of Nepal need not submit a certificate of eligibility.
Educational Qualification
The educational qualification for NDA candidates are,
- The candidate must be appearing for the class 12 examination. However, candidates appearing for the class 11 exam are not eligible to appear for the UPSC NDA exam.
- Candidates must pass class 12 or an equivalent examination from any recognized board or institution to qualify for the Army Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Candidates must pass class 12 or an equivalent examination with the subjects of physics and mathematics to qualify for the Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and the 10+2 Cadet entry scheme at INA.
- Candidates who have failed the INSB / PABT earlier are not eligible to apply.
About the NDA Exam
The NDA or the National Defence Academy exam is a national level exam conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is an offline exam, and the exam takes place for 5 hours. Candidates willing to participate in the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) must apply for the NDA exam.
