1. Be a Master

Why be stay a Bachelor when you can be the Master? Take up GATE/ GRE and pursue Masters. Having a Master’s Degree means better opportunities and even better salary. Also, a Master’s degree in the core subject will ensure that the graduate gets a job in one of the core companies. Not only can they work in a big corporate firm but also they can go ahead and do their Ph.D. and have a research-oriented career.

2. Do MBA

When companies hire for managerial roles they look for candidates with managerial work experience or an educational qualification. If a student has finished their B.Tech graduation and their interests lean towards management, they can choose to do their MBA. Start preparing for and take up GMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ CMAT or any of the Management admission tests that can get you into a good B-School.

3. Get a Job!

There are thousands of companies in the private sector that have plenty of job openings for B.Tech graduates in the IT field. Tech-related employment can only be filled by someone with an education in Technology and Engineering. This is kind of a no-brainer. B.Tech students are hired through campus placement drives in large numbers by many companies.

4. Get into Public Sector Undertakings

Public Sector Undertaking is an enterprise whose majority of shares are owned by the Union, State or Territorial Government of India. National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Coal India Limited (CIL) are some of the PSUs in India.

These companies too have job openings for B.Tech graduates in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and the like.

5. Work for the Government

Government Sector jobs in departments like PWD, SSC, IES are all available to B.Tech graduates. A government job may not be what today’s generation looks for. But government employment opportunities come with their own perks that other jobs seldom offer. Government jobs also mean stability in a way that the new age companies cannot offer.

6. Join the Defence

The officers in the Army, the Air Force and the Navy in the Technical department are all graduates from Degrees like BE/ B.Tech/ ME/ M.Tech. The aspirants have to pass in SSB, AFCAT etc to get into the Defence Forces. B.Tech gives the graduates the upper hand if they aspire to be pilots. The degree makes the candidates that much more qualified with technical knowledge that a pilot is required to have.

9. Be an Academician

B.Tech graduates can take up teaching jobs. There is a scarcity of good teachers all over India. Every graduate would want to get a job in an MNC and earn boatloads of money. Very few graduates opt teaching jobs. After completing master’s, they can even teach in Colleges. The UGC scale of payment of salary is pretty high for graduates with a Master’s degree and Ph.D.

10. Study MSW

MSW is Master of Social Work. Any graduate in a Bachelor’s Degree can do this Master’s in Social Work Degree that is offered by many colleges all over India. An MSW degree enables its students to find solutions and to help people in times of crisis and need.
