Kerala Polytechnic Admission Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate shall be a citizen of India.
- Domicile Status: Candidates seeking admission to Polytechnic Colleges shall be categorized as Keralite and NonKeralite.
- Keralite: A candidate of Kerala origin shall be categorized as a ‘Keralite’ if:
- If the candidate provides certificates indicating their place of birth in Kerala, they will be eligible for reservations and fee concessions based on communal, economically weaker sections (EWS), TFW (Third Gender/Female/Widow), special category, and persons with disabilities.
- However, if the candidate's place of birth is not in Kerala, they must submit valid documents from the competent authorities of the Kerala government to claim reservations and fee concessions.
- Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to the Kerala cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’. However, they will not qualify for reservation under the Communal/EWS/TFW/Special/Persons with Disabilities categories or receive any fee concessions.
- Non-Keralite: A candidate who does not belong to the ‘Keralite’ category shall be categorized as 'Non-Keralite'.
- He/she shall not be eligible for Communal EWS/TFW/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
- Educational Qualification: The candidate must have cleared the SSLC/THSLC or an equivalent examination, demonstrating eligibility for further studies.
- Candidates who have passed qualifying examinations with Mathematics, English, and Science subjects are eligible to apply for both stream I and stream II.
- Applicants who have successfully completed the qualifying exam in Mathematics and English are qualified to submit an application for stream II.
NOTE: Candidates who have attempted the SSLC/THSLC or equivalent exams more than twice to meet the eligibility requirements for higher studies will be disqualified from admission. Participation in "Betterment" or "SAY" examinations will not be counted as an attempt.
Application Process for Kerala Polytechnic Admission
Candidates can refer to the points below for the application process for Kerala Polytechnic admission.
- It is mandatory to complete a one-time registration on the admission portal to apply for any program in Government/ Government-Aided/ IHRD/ CAPE/ Self-Financing Colleges.
- Each candidate needs to go through the one-time registration process on the admission portal by paying a fee of Rs. 200/- (For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the fee is Rs. 100/-).
- They must provide details such as a valid mobile number, email address, etc. The registered mobile number will be considered the candidate's official number and will be required for all admission-related activities, including OTP verification. During the process, candidates will receive a system-generated registration number.
- Candidates should log in using the registered mobile number or registration number along with OTP.
- Candidates can apply under the following categories:
- Application for seats in Government/Government-Aided/IHRD/CAPE/Government seats in Self-Financing Colleges
- Application for NCC quota seats
- Application for Sports quota seats
- Application for Management quota seats in Self-Financing institutions
- Candidates can submit only one application for each category. Separate applications should be submitted to the self-financing institutions the candidate wishes to apply to. Applications for Management seats can be submitted until the last date of admission.
- They can make corrections to the submitted application through their login until the last date of online submission.
Kerala Polytechnic Admission Selection Criteria
The selection process is based on the grade point achieved by the candidate in the SSLC/THSLC or an equivalent examination. For students who have passed the qualifying examination under the old scheme (prior to the Grading System), marks are required to be converted into a 9-point grade scale as outlined below:

In the case of CBSE, if both marks and grades are available on the mark list, only the marks will be taken into account to determine the grade point.
Preparation of Rank List
- The preparation of rank lists for centralized allotment will be announced on the website.
- The rank list for Stream I programs will be formulated based on the calculated Index Score for Stream I. The allotment of seats for these programs will strictly adhere to the order of the rank list.
- The rank list for Stream II programs will be generated based on the calculated Index Score for Stream II. The allotment of seats for these programs will be carried out according to the rank list specifically designed for Stream II.
