Top Law Entrance Exams 2024-2025: Eligibility Criteria
Students can check the eligibility criteria for top law entrance exams below.
1. CLAT
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized national-level entrance exam for admission to 25 of the 27 National Law Universities, except NLU Delhi and NLU Meghalaya.
- Candidates must have completed class 12 or its equivalent at a recognized institution.
- Those in class 12 can also take CLAT.
- The minimum necessary scores are 45% for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI and 40% for SC/ST categories.
- There is no upper age limit for UG Program candidates in CLAT 2024.

2. AIBE
The Bar Council of India conducts the AIBE for law graduates who want to practice as lawyers. After passing the examination, the candidate will be issued a certificate of practice, allowing them to practice in any court in India.
- AIBE is open to all law graduates who have completed a 3-year LLB or a 5-year LLB with the necessary AIBE eligibility marks, if applicable.
- There is no AIBE age limit.
- Candidates must additionally register with a state bar council before taking the AIBE exam.
3. LSAT India
The LSAT India, designed for Indian law colleges, assesses high-level reading, informal reasoning, and deductive reasoning skills. These gained critical thinking abilities are vital for success in both law school and the practice of law.
- Five-year integrated LLB: Candidates should have cleared Class 12 or equivalent exam.
- Three-year LLB: Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university/college.
- LLM: Candidates must hold a law degree, i.e., LLB degree from a recognized university/college.
- There is no upper age limit for candidates.
4. AILET
National Legal University of Delhi (NLU Delhi) administers the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for admission to undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral (PhD) level legal courses. This is a national-level entrance exam for admission to NLU Delhi's law programmes solely.
- Candidates must have acquired the minimum qualifying marks and certificates required for the courses.
- If candidates are applying under a reserved category, they must provide a certificate issued by the relevant body declaring such.
- If candidates are eligible for the PwD category, they must have a medical certificate issued by a medical authority stating that they have a disability of 40% or more.

5. ULSAT
The ULSAT stands for the University of Petroleum and Energy Law School Admission Test. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies is administering this test for admission to its three-year LLB, five-year LLB (BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB), LLB, and LLM programs.
- Minimum of 50% marks at the Higher and Senior Secondary levels (10th and 12th).
- LLM requires a minimum of 50% grades at the Higher and Senior Secondary levels (X and XII), and a minimum of 50% marks in graduation with an LLB degree or equivalent.
6. MHCET Law
The Maharashtra Common admission Test - Law, often known as MH CET Law, is a state-level law admission test administered by the State CET Cell in Maharashtra. This law entrance test admits candidates to 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB programs provided by participating law universities in Maharashtra. A total of 147 law universities recognize MH CET law marks.
- To apply for the entrance exam for a five-year LLB program, you must have finished class 12 or its equivalent from an accredited university.
- To be considered for a 3-year LLB program, you need to have graduated from an accredited university.
7. LFAT
The Law Faculty Admission Test (LFAT) is administered by the University of Allahabad for admission to the five-year Integrated LLB (Hons) program offered in the Faculty of Law and its constituent colleges.
- You need to be an Indian citizen to apply for the Law Faculty Admission Test in 2024.
- You need to have graduated from an accredited school after passing the 12th grade.
- For the general category, at least 45% is required in your HSC.
- A 42% or 40% score is required if you fall into the SC or OBC categories.

8. Allahabad University LAT
The Allahabad University conducts the Law Admission Test (LAT) for admission to three-year LLB courses. The admission exam is a pen-and-paper test. Final admissions are determined by entrance test scores, eligibility requirements, and seat reservation criteria.
- Educational requirements: The applicant must have a graduate degree in any field from a recognized university or comparable institution.
- Candidates who appear in the qualifying exam are also eligible to take the LAT 2024. However, such candidates would be required to present proof of qualification during the admission or counselling process.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks - The qualifying test requires 45% for general, 40% for SC/ST, and 42% for OBC categories.
9. ILICAT
The Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test (ILICAT) is a law entrance exam administered by The Indian Law Institute (ILI) for admission to its one-year LLM program. The exam is administered using pen and paper, and the question paper includes both objective and subjective questions.
- LLB Degree with at least 50% marks.
- SC/ST/Physically Handicapped category candidates need 45% marks.
- Kashmiri Migrants require at least 40% marks.

10. SLAT
The SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test) is administered by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to several Law Schools affiliated with Symbiosis University.
- Qualifying Exam- Aspiring applicants must have completed class 12 from a recognized state or national test board.
- Minimum Percentage- Candidates must have scored at least 45% in the qualifying test (40% for SC/ST).
- Age Limit- There is no minimum age limit in SLAT 2024.
11. AMU Law Entrance Exam
Aligarh Muslim University conducts an annual entrance examination for students seeking admission to the BA LLB program.
- Completed 10+2 from a recognized board with at least 50% marks.
- The maximum age limit is 22 years.
- Candidates who have completed the bridge course at AMU and have a minimum aggregate of 50% are eligible.

12. PU UG Law
PU UGLAW is a written entrance exam offered by Punjab University. The entrance exam is used to select applicants for admission to the five-year integrated BA LLB and BCom LLB program.
- Candidates must have completed class 12 or be in the process of doing so.
- The class 10+2 qualifying test must follow the pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or an equivalent recognized Board/University/Council.
13. PU LLB Entrance Exam
The PU LLB entrance exam 2024 is held by the university for admission to three-year LLB courses at the Department of Laws, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Punjab University Regional Centre, Muktsar (Punjab), UIL, Punjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana (Punjab), and UILS, Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, Bajwara, Hoshiarpur.
- Candidates who have earned a Bachelor's or master's degree in any discipline from Panjab University or another university recognized by the Bar Council of India or Panjab University.
- Candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 45% in their graduation or postgraduate studies.
- SC/ST/BC/PwD applicants must achieve at least 40% in their graduation or postgraduate studies.
14. AILET
Every year, the National Law University Delhi conducts the AILET, a national level All India Law Entrance Test, for admission to its B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programmes.
- You must have passed or be taking the 12th grade test from the Punjab School Education Board, or any other national or state board in India.
- You must have obtained at least 45% in the qualifying exam.
- If you completed your qualifying exam at an open institution, you cannot apply for the law course.
- If you are clearing compartment papers in the 12th grade, you will not be admitted to AIL.

15. ILSAT
The ICFAI Law Admission Test, or ILSAT, is an entrance exam administered by the ICFAI Law School for admission to undergraduate law courses. The legal admission test is given in CBT format.
- Candidates must have completed Class XII or equivalent with at least 50% marks in a single try in any field and English.
- Pending Results: Students who took their Class XII (or equivalent) final examinations before July 1, 2024, and are still awaiting results are eligible to apply.
- ILSAT Qualification: Applicants must have passed the ILSAT 2024 exam administered by ICFAI Law School in Hyderabad.
- Candidates should not be more than 21 years old at the commencement of Semester I. However, any adjustments to the age limit imposed by the BCI shall be followed. The date of birth listed on the Secondary School Certificate shall be regarded as legitimate.
16. AP LAWCET
To be admitted to law programs offered at Andhra Pradesh Universities and their affiliated colleges, candidates must pass the state-level Andhra Pradesh Common Law Entrance Test (AP LAWCET), which is administered by Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).
- Candidates for the 5-year LLB program must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2 level) from any recognized board or council. The minimum qualifying marks are 45% for General, 42% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST categories.
- Candidates for the three-year LLB program must have a Bachelor's degree (10+2+3) in any stream from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST and 42% for OBC).
17. TS LAWCET
TS LAWCET is a state-level law admission test administered by Osmania University in Hyderabad on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). The law entrance test is held for admission to five-year integrated LLB degrees and three-year LLB courses at Telangana state universities and colleges.
- For TS LAWCET 5-year LLB Minimum qualification required is 12th grade or equivalent and for TS LAWCET 3-year LLB Graduate in any stream in 10+2+3 pattern or its equivalent.
- Minimum marks are required General Category - 45%, OBC Category - 42%, SC/ST - 40%
- There is no TS LAWCET age eligibility criteria.

18. GLAT
The Geeta Institute of Law, which is associated with Kurukshetra University, conducts the Geeta Law Admission Test (GLAT) for candidates seeking admission to five-year integrated law degrees - BA LLB (Hons)/ BBA LLB (Hons).
- Candidates in the general category must have achieved at least 45% aggregate marks in the Class 12 examination or equivalent.
- Students graduating in 2024 can also apply.
- Candidates from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories must have secured at least 42.75% aggregate marks in 12 examinations or equivalent (students graduating in 2024 can apply).
- Candidates for GLAT 2024 must be 22 years old.
19. KLEE
The Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE) is a competitive admissions test for Kerala's four government law colleges.
- Candidates must have completed 10+2 for a 5-year LLB, graduated in any stream for a 3-year LLB, and have a law degree for LLM.
- KLEE LLB candidates must pass with a minimum of 45% in the general category, 42% in SEBC, and 40% in SC/ST. However, LLM requires a minimum passing mark of 50%.
- There is no upper age limit.
20. ULSAT
The ULSAT stands for the University of Petroleum and Energy Law School Admission Test. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies is administering this test for admission to its three-year LLB, five-year LLB (BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB), LLB, and LLM programs.
- A minimum of 50% marks at the Higher and Senior Secondary levels (10th and 12th).
- LLM requires at least 50% grades in both high school (X and XII) and graduation, specifically in LLB or an equivalent degree.
