Maths Important Questions for Class 10: 1 Mark Questions
Here are the important questions that can be practiced to be prepared for the 1 mark questions set to be asked in the class 10th mathematics exam. For CBSE class 10th mathematics exam, the first section, Section-A, will consist of 20 questions with 1 mark each.
These one mark questions can be asked in fill in the blanks, MCQs, one-word answer, etc. Some of the one-markers under maths important questions for class 10th are:
Q. Given, HCF (306, 657) = 9, we have to find LCM (306, 657).
Sol. Given, HCF × LCM = Product of the two given numbers
Therefore,
9 × LCM = 306 × 657
LCM = (306 × 657)/9 = 22338
Hence, LCM (306, 657) = 22338
Q. What is the length of the tangent from a point M which is at a distance of 17 cm from the center O of the circle that is of radius 8 cm?
Sol. The figure:
Since MN is the tangent of the circle,
∠MNO = 90⁰
⟹ MO2 = MN2 + ON2
⟹ 172 = MN2 + 82
⟹ 289 = MN2 + 64
⟹ 289 – 64 = MN2
⟹ MN2 = 225
⟹ MN = 15
Therefore, the length of the tangent is 15 cm.
Q. What is the median using an empirical relation, when it is given that mode and mean are 8 and 9 respectively?
Sol. The relationship between Median, Mean, and Mode of the given data is:
(Mode = 3Median − 2Mean)
⟹ 8 = 3Median − 2 × 9
⟹ 3Median = 8 + 18
⟹ Median = 26/3
⟹ Median = 8.67
Maths Important Questions for Class 10: 2 Marks Questions

Q. A rectangular sheet of paper ABCD in which AB is 40 cm and AD is 28 cm, a semi-circular portion with BC as its diameter is cut off. What is the area of the remaining paper (use π = 22/7)
Sol. Given,
Length of paper, AB is l = 40cm
Width of paper, AD is b = 28cm
The area of paper is l × b = 40 × 28 = 1120 cm2
The diameter of the semi-circle is 28cm
Therefore, the Radius of the semi-circle, r is 14cm
Thus, the area of the semi-circle is 1/2. πr2
= 1/2 × 22/7 × 14 × 14
= 308cm2
Therefore, Area of remaining paper = 1120 – 308 = 812 cm2
Q. Solve the following system of linear equations by substitution method:
2x – y = 2
x + 3y =15
Sol.
Here, 2x – y = 2
⟹ y = 2x – 2
⟹ x + 3y = 15
If we substitute the value of y from (i) in (ii), we will get
x + 6x – 6 = 15
⟹ 7x = 21
⟹ x = 3
From (i), y = 2 × 3 – 2 = 4
Therefore, x = 3 and y = 4
Maths Important Questions for Class: 4 Marks Questions
All the important 4 marks questions that can be asked in the CBSE Class 10 Mathematics paper are mentioned here. For class 10th CBSE mathematics exam, we will not have 4 marks for the questions that were earlier asked in a different section of the paper due to the reduction of the paper.
Students might practice these questions to revise important concepts that will help them attempt other questions accurately in their Maths exam. Some questions from the set of Important 4 mark important questions for class 10th math are given below:
Q. A ship whose speed is 24 km/hr in still water takes 1 hr more to go 32km upstream than to return downstream to the same spot. What is the speed of the stream?
Sol. Assume the speed of the stream to be x.
Then,
The speed of the ship upstream will be 24 ‒ x
Downstream, the speed of the ship will be 24 + x
Then,
The time that is taken in the upstream journey ‒ The time taken in the downstream journey will be 1 hour
Q. The first and last terms of an AB are 10 and 361 respectively. If the common difference is 9, find the number of terms and their total sum?
Sol.
Given, first term, a is 10
Last term, al is 361
Common difference, d = 9
Now, al = a + (n −1)d
⟹ 361 = 10 + (n − 1)9
⟹ 361 = 10 + 9n − 9
⟹ 361 = 9n + 1
⟹ 9n = 360
⟹ n = 40
Therefore, the total number of terms in AB = 40
The sum of the total number of terms of an AB is:
Sn = n/2 [2a + (n − 1)d]
⟹ S40 = 40/2 [2 × 10 + (40 − 1)9]
= 20 [20 + 39 x 9]
=20 [20 + 351]
=20 × 371 = 7420
Therefore, the sum of all 40 terms of AB is 7420
