The University of Quebec at Trois Rivieres (UQTR) or popularly known as "l'université du peuple," is a public university within the Université du Québec network that offers its students a quiet, pleasant environment along with a large campus with plenty of green open spaces. One of the university's most attractive features is its relaxed, safe atmosphere where students and professors work closely together during teaching and research activities.
UQTR has successfully been able to generate research funding of $21 million. Till now, UQTR has awarded $4.8 million worth of scholarships to their students. However, most of these scholarships are for domestic students, but international students can apply for other financial aids.
University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres was established in 1969, with the merger of the "Centre d'Études universitaires de Trois-Rivières" and "L'école normale d'État Maurice Duplessis" (named after Maurice Duplessis).

The tuition fees at the university differ depending upon the program and specialization selected by the students. Every student has to show proof of finances so as to be eligible for admission. The course fee for undergraduate international students may range from CAD 12,500 to CAD 15,000 and for postgraduate international students may range from CAD 7,500 to CAD 10,000.
