If we clear the test then there's an interview with the admissions officer and then a final interview with the Dean. A deposit of INR 50000 (non-refundable) is paid if we get selected.
I took the Management aptitude test or MAT.
Fees & Scholarships :
Per year the course fee is INR 4 lakhs for MBA.
There are no scholarships.
Loans can be taken if there is a need. Students have taken a loan from Axis Bank, Kotak, SBI and other major nationalised banks and they are easily available.
Academics & Faculty :
Timings of classes are 9 am to 4 pm for the first semester. Classes end sooner for the later semesters because of reduced subjects. There are a lot of assignments, case studies and research projects (average of three per subject). Exams are one mid-semester examination (50 marks) and one end semester examination (100 marks) per semester.
Teaching is of the highest quality with professors being experienced in both industry and teaching. Most professors have a PhD or are working on one. Method of teaching is usually a Powerpoint presentation along with a lecture with occasional videos shown for added information.
Overall experience is good. The teaching was fantastic, the college culture is good and students are very friendly and cooperative. The placements were a little unsatisfactory for the 2017 batch but it seems to be picking up. We had a few college events and competitions which were entertaining and informative.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are two separate hostels for boys and girls both located near the college. Apartments with three floors were rented for both the hostels and the rooms are clean and large enough to fit two people comfortably. The fees are INR 60000 per semester (roughly INR 10000 per month) including food and transport to and from college.
There are many good PGs and flats located around and near the college and the fees is INR 15000 - 22000 per month for a room. A room can be shared by two to four people.
The food is good (3.5 out of 5) and for hostel students it's a part of the fees so they don't pay anything over counter. For others, it's INR 50 per meal.
Classrooms are clean, bright and spacious with PC, presentation screen, speakers and air conditioners. Wifi is provided all over campus for free. The library is small but still has a good collection of books and reasonable seats. Computer lab holds over 50 Pcs and is air-conditioned. The dining hall is on the terrace and can hold about 300 people. It's in the open with a kitchen at the back. There are no playgrounds. There are many shops and restaurants nearby.
Clubs & Associations :
Every functional department is treated as a club, for example, there is a head professor in the Marketing department and she is in charge of all activities conducted by the marketing students.
There is a yearly event called Aspire conducted by the seniors and has various management activities and the final day's events are conducted on the main campus in Anekal. The Ascent college students can take part in main campus events. There is an ethnic day that's conducted every year.
College life in Alliance Ascent is smooth, entertaining and lacks stress despite the endless assignments. Everybody gets along with everyone else. The student-teacher relationship is also casual and friendly. You won't even notice the time go by but will definitely miss it when it's over.
