Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology Infrastructure: Library, Hostel, Gym, Auditorium, Cafeteria & Other Facilities

Infrastructure:

The college campus extends over an area of 46 acres (190,000 m2) of land situated close to the Shivalik ranges and Sukhna Lake.The campus is divided into zones like administration blocks for Degree and Diploma stream, and hostels and residential complex for faculty and staff.

In addition to lecture halls, tutorial rooms and drawing halls, the college has an auditorium, library, computer centers, workshops, laboratories and playgrounds. The college has a branch of State Bank of Patiala with ATM facility, extension counter of Post Office and a canteen. The campus has a unit of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Some of the facilities are:

Computer Labs

The college has a consortium of well equipped computational labs for imparting high quality computation facilities to students, faculty and staff. The college has its own computer Centre & four labs having more than 90 Pentium IV based computers which serves as the lifeline of the college. Computer centre provides the students printing and scanning facilities. High speed Internet access of 100 Mbps (1:1) via a lease line from NKN is available in all the departments and hostels. The computational facilities also include a cyber café, which is open for students as well as staff from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM.

Networking

The server room works as a central hub. The network connectivity has been extended to computer lab 1(CL1), CL2, CL3, CL4 with provision of 20 nodes each. The college library, lecture halls (8 in no) and respective rooms of Assistant professors (3 in no) have been provided with 1 node each. Along with, 4 nodes have also been provided in the faculty rooms. The network has been extended to hostels (girls as well as boys). They have been provided with 5 nodes each for cyber cafes and 15 nodes are allocated for 15 rooms in each hostel to ensure round the clock connectivity. The connection has been provided by STPI and is working on 1:4 sharing. Optical fibers have been used to inter connect the buildings and UDP cables provide connectivity with in a building. The connection is providing a speed of 100Mbps.

Degree Wing Library

To support the academic requirements of the faculty & students, the college has a well stocked library with a collection of about 12000 volumes in Science & Technology, catering to the needs of about 900 members (Both faculty & students) imparting/pursuing studies in four different branches of Engg. The library is continuously in the process to acquire text books & reference books, to keep its reader abreast with the latest information.

The library of the institute aims to facilitate academic & research activities of the faculty & students by providing timely information & resource through cost effective means. The college library is organized into various sections, which are managed by professionally qualified staff.

Library is fully automated and is using Softlink Alice Software and the Barcode system for issue and return will be implemented shortly.

The library is also institutional member of British Library and is entitled to draw 10 books, 5 back issues of the periodicals and 2 video cassettes. British Library also provides information for studying in Britain and about various British examinations like IELTS, BEC, PLAB, YLE etc.

E-Portal

Also, shortly library is starting E-Portal for the Scholarly communication among the faculty, faculty and the students and also among the students itself. This portal will enhance the intellectual level of our students and give them a pinpointed information on their subject. This portal will contain old papers, syllabus, project reports, lab reports, assignments, Audio-Video presentation, records of orientations and seminars conducted in the campus and many more online facilities.

Diploma Wing Library

Diploma stream Library is located at the top of the Administrative Block of the Institute. This Library has been running since 1960. It is fully air conditioned with adequate lighting arrangement. It has a seating capacity of 70 students at a time. There are about 25,000 nos. of books on different disciplines i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Architecture Courses and other general books.

Hostel

Hostel is the home for all the students who are living away from their homes. This makes the hostel an indispensable part of college infrastructure. The college campus is including separate hostel for girls and boys. Hostellers are being provided with round the clock internet facility with a bandwidth of 128kbps. The hostel mess provides all its residents with hygienic food which caters to taste of everyone. Moreover, hostel has a table tennis room and a badminton court along with televisions installed in both the hostels' common room. 

Workshops

Our Workshop is one of the modern and well-equipped central facilities for fabrication of projects. The Workshop imparts best training to the students and enhances their technical capabilities. The workshop has fully equipped Fitting Shop, Carpentry Shop, Smithy Shop, Electrical Shop, Welding Shop , Machine Shop Painting/Electro plating Shop , CNC Trainer. Lathe Machines of HMT make are also available. Well-experienced and qualified staff is available to guide the students.

Role of Workshop

The college workshop imparts basic training to the students of all the branches. The workshop undertakes repairs and maintenance work of all departments and is a central facility for fabrication of projects and other research and development works. A one month vocational training is imparted as a part of curriculum to students of all branches of engineering with the help of well experienced and qualified workshop staff.

Other Facilities:

Banking and ATM
The college has branch of State Bank of Patiala in the campus where students can deposit their fees and also have accounts in the bank. An Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) of State Bank of Patiala has also been set up in the campus to keep in trends with the changing times and to enable the use of plastic money by students and staff.

Medical Facilities

The college has its own dispensary where the medical facilities exist for the students and staff. In addition to day to day attendance to ailments, special attention is paid to the health of the students. All the students are medically examined at least once a year by the college Medical Officers and standard Physical Medical Record of the students is maintained.

Postal Facilities

The college also houses an extension counter of the Post Office.
