  • Those who have a B.Tech degree from IIT with 8.0 CGPA out of 10 are exempted from CAT exam
Business Analytics
  • Applicants must have passed B.Tech in any discipline from a recognized university/ institution with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 out of 10 CGPA
  • For SC/ ST and PwD (Differently Abled) candidates, the basic marks percentage requirement is to obtain at least 55% or 5.5 CGPA out of 10 
  • Final year candidates are also eligible to apply. However, they must meet all the eligibility requirements before starting the programme
  • Candidates are shortlisted based on CAT score as well as performance in the inetrview round (Written Ability Test and Personal Interview)

The basic eligibility criteria for MBA/ MBA (Business Analytics) is to pass graduation with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. However, there is a relaxation in marks percentage has been allotted to the reserved category candidates (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ ST/ PD applying for MBA and 55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ ST/ PwD applying for MBA (Business Analytics)).

Department of Management Studies MBA Selection Criteria 

All those wishing to pursue MBA at Department of Management Studies must appear for CAT exam. Those who have a valid CAT score can apply online for MBA admission through Common Admission Portal of DMS ISM. However, those who have passed B.Tech from IIT with 8.0 CGPA out of 10 are exempted from CAT exam. Candidates are shortlisted based on merit in graduation as well as entrance test results. Only those will be called for the interview process which consists of a written ability test as well as a personal interview. Shortlisted candidates must have to upload all the copies of necessary documents. The interview process will be conducted in Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai, and Roorkee. Applicants are allowed to give three preferences. DMS ISM retains the final right to hold or withdraw the interview process in any given location. The application process is common to all the four institutions and there will be only one common written ability test and interview for those who apply to more than one institute. The final selection of candidates will be announced by the respective institute in the stipulated time.

For General and OBC, the application fee for MBA/ MBA (Business Analytics) is INR 1600. For SC/ ST/ PD, the reduced fee for one course is INR 800.

Department of Management Studies M.Tech Admission Process

Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad offers M.Tech which is a two-year course consisting of eleven core courses in the first and second semester. In the second semester, they are required to choose a specialization paper from thirteen different specializations. Candidates will go through industrial training for six weeks at the end of their second semester. In the third and fourth semesters, the candidate has to work on a dissertation.

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST and who have the basic qualifying degree are eligible to apply, provided s/he has secured first class or marks not less than 55% or CGPA not less than 5.5 in the relevant degree
  • Admission to this programme is through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal
  • The candidate must be an Indian National
  • Candidates should have a valid GATE score that remains valid at the time of admission. However, those who have passed B.Tech from IIT with CGPA of 8.00 and above are exempted from giving GATE exam
  • Candidates with an equivalent degree and discipline recognized by professional bodies, such as the Institution of Engineers (India), the Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Aeronautical Society of India, the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, the Indian Institute of Metals, etc. are not eligible

Candidates are advised to note that a separate entrance test is conducted for M.Tech Mineral Engineering in addition to admission through GATE. The separate test for Mineral Engineering will be conducted by Department of Fuel, Minerals, and Metallurgical Engineering. Those who are admitted without GATE for the proposed course will not be eligible for the scholarship.
