Classrooms are technologically well equipped with air conditioning, and there is a library and wifi connection too.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
The candidates applying to the college should appear for MHT-CET (a state-level engineering entrance examination) or JEE-Mains (national level engineering entrance examination). The majority of the seats are allotted based on the rank secured in MHT-CET, and some all-India quota seats are allotted through the score of JEE-Mains. There is a quota for J&K migrants too.
I appeared for MHT-CET and secured a percentile of 99.19 and a rank of 1646 in 2019. I was able to get the seat in the first round of ILS(Institute level seats) counselling. ILS is a set of rounds conducted by the college for the vacant seats beside the ones allotted through online rounds. The application form for ILS is available on the college website.
The cut off for B.Tech Computer Engineering in DJ Sanghvi is typically in the range of 98.5 to 99 percentile for ILS and above 99 for the online Central Admission Process(CAP) rounds.
Placements & Internships :
The ACM committee of the Department of Computer Engineering hosts an annual Internship fair in the month of March. Students have an opportunity to apply to various tech and non-tech companies in this internship fair. Besides this, companies like JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley also recruit second-year students for summer internships with a stipend upto INR 87,000 (Morgan Stanley). Companies hire for development as well as analyst roles.
The average package for computer engineering students is about INR 7 lakhs per annum, and the highest package offered is INR 25.5 lakhs per annum. The key companies that visit for campus placement are JP Morgan, Amazon, etc.
Fees & Scholarships :
Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering, [DJ Sanghvi] Mumbai Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 1.8 Lakh per annum.
Students belonging to minority such as OBC, SC/ST, J&K, migrants, etc., have lesser tuition fees. OBC students have a fee of INR 1.1 lakh per year, while SC/ST students have fees of INR 7,000 per year.
Academics & Faculty :
The college lectures are conducted from Monday to Saturday. There is no fixed timetable for the semester in the initial few weeks, but it's finalised after a month into the semester. Most of the teachers are highly qualified, and the college infrastructure complements their style of teaching. Some teachers are not very friendly to students and could give them a hard time. There is a smartboard that is used mostly for teaching. Sometimes the college duration can be exhausting.
Clubs & Associations :
There are plenty of societies and clubs in college, with each department having its flagship event hosted by the committee. There is a good coding culture in the tech departments.
Some popular committees are DJ LIT (Literature Committee), DJS Skylark (Aviation Committee of Mechanical Department) and Unicode (Development Committee of Computer Department). The annual fest of the college is called TRINITY, and there are plenty of cultural, sports, and inter-department competitions happening throughout the semester.
College life is very chill and fun except for the month of final examination; when plenty of submissions and studying comes into the picture, those times can be very stressful.
