The daily timings are generally between 9.30 to 5.30 (max). They vary differently on days for an hour or so. On Saturday we have a half day (9.30 to 12.30 ) And obviously holiday on Sunday. Exams are taken as two per sem. One is the internal exam for 20 marks taken by the college itself and another is 70 marks main exam taken by GTU. 10 marks are allowed under ALA. Active learning assignment and 20 for file work, another 30 based on Viva's and practical. If you sum up all you get a result based out of 150 marks. I would say that sometimes it feels a boredom or so but it well with respect to other self-finance colleges it's nice. We do get reading vacations for a month before final exams. Overall it's a pleasant atmosphere... Infrastructure is good, labs are well maintained. Now I have kept this point in last. The Teaching experience in GCET is awesome. You get teachers graduated from IITs out here. All of them are very good in teaching conceptual and clear the whole subject in deep. For this, I would rate 9/10. If you want to learn to engineer than GCET is one of the best in Gujarat.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
The admission in GCET (G.H. Patel college of engineering and technology) is done on the basis of your JEE (mains) and 11-12th marks. 60% of your 12th board marks (state board /central board /icse) is considered and 40% of the JEE mains is used. On basis of this merit list is created and based on rankings of different colleges admission procedure is carried out. This all admission is carried out by ACPC(admission commission of professional courses). Link :www.jacpcldce.ac.In above procedure, a token of INR 20,000 rupees is first paid to ACPC and rest of the fees is paid to college (fees excluding 20,000). For example let's say: My merit rank was 6826 and the cut off for mechanical was 7000 rank so I will get in mechanical engineering branch. But if my rank was more than 7000 then I won't get admission. The same applies to different branches as well. The other way of admission is through management quota where you need to pay the fees for 1 year directly and separate rank is allocated in this case rather than the ACPC Rank as mentioned above.
Placements & Internships :
Current scenario for private engineering colleges is below average and looking to that case the placements in GCET (G. H PATEL COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY) are very good. Various men's visit our college like L&T(LARSEN AND TOUBRO) For the mechanical branch.A total of 33 companies has visited the college this year. A detailed link for placement is as below: http://gcet.ac.in/placement.php. The highest packages are nearer to 18 lakhs in mnc like the alpha marine. Regarding the internships, GCET comes under GTU (GUJARAT TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY) which hasn't got much to do with internships or it isn't compulsory. So students opt out for internships outside the campus at various industries in Anand itself. GIDC(GUJARAT INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE) is an area where many large companies like the EIMCO ELECON lies. The student generally gets interned here itself. Now as of now I'm a second-year student so I haven't done any internship yet but will do soon in a couple of months. Many eminent personalities like Siddharth rajhans, Blake Lloyd, Dr kalpendu Shastri etc have visited our college. A detailed info on this is here: http://gcet.ac.in/eminent.php
Fees & Scholarships :
My course fee as of now I'm a 2016 batch student is annually INR 1,19,000. Yes, students do get the option for scholarships. You get my (mukhya Mantri Yuva swavlamhbhan yojna) where you get 50,000 rupees or 50% of the fee back (whichever is lesser.) The eligibility for this is 80 percentile above in 12th grade and family income below INR 6,00000 rupees annually. Around more than 60% of the students get benefited with this scholarship. Regarding the loans, you can easily opt for education loan and will get a loan in a day or so under vista Lakshmi yojna from Dena bank. Even other banks also provide loans under low-interest rates.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
For the infrastructure the college is nice and we'll maintain. The library is having a collection of more than 20,000 books and 1000 journals and research papers. you get PC for any work in libraries and college itself. Now, the hostel of GCET is separate for girls and boys. Major of the students are not localite so they stay as a hostel or PG. Hostel of GCET is worst I would say, the fees is 18,000 per year. But if you are looking for good hostels there are many like the AVD (ATMIYA VIDYA DHAM) WHICH I would rate 4.5/5.You can also stay on PG as every home near college offers at low cost. Quality of classroom is good they are ventilated,..no ac in the classroom. But they are quite cool. The labs are well maintained here and play a major role in our infrastructure. You do get Wi-Fi at the cost of 1500 per year. Now for accessing the college contents like notes, ppts, nptel lectures you get intranet known as GIS which I would rate (4.7/5 ) very efficient. The mesh of college hostel is not good but as I said you will definitely need to opt for another good hostel. And Ya if you are a first-year student than its compulsory to pay first-year hostel fee whether you live their or not (INR 18,000 rupees).
Clubs & Associations :
There are many student societies as per the branch.. ISTE (INDIAN SOCIETY FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION.) ASME (AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERS) GCET ALUMNI CLUB (1000 RUPEES IS THE FEE WHICH IS AGAIN COMPULSORY..) IEEE ( FOR ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS) ICHEE(FOR CHEMICAL BRANCH) NOW you do get paid workshops at very less price (20-100 ruppees) every day or so which are very well to attend. The college organizes it's own tech fest every year that's Imaze : www.imaze2k18.com Which is dope! There is also a rotary club and GCET sports comittee which organizes all sports event Also you can participate in Amul volcano organised by well known Amul. It's a cultural techfest. The life in general in GCET is good (obviously not as good as IIT) but yeah you will enjoy learning in GCET because of the unity of students along with coordination of faculties.
