IIM Visakhapatnam was established in 2015 by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, and was announced as the Institute of National Importance under the IIM Act 2017. Its flagship course of PGP is offered in different formats and has an average tuition fee of INR 14.47 Lakhs.

IIM Visakhapatnam courses include 4 PG courses, 1 doctoral course and 1 certification course. The PG courses are PGP, Post Graduate Program for Experienced Professionals (PGPEx), Executive MBA for Working Professionals, and Post Graduate Program in Digital Governance and Management (PGPDGM).

Executive MBA is a new course that will be offered on Interactive Learning and was commenced with the 2023-25 batch. The course of PGPMCI or Post-Graduate Program in Management for the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions is a collaborative course offered by IIM Visakhapatnam, IIITDM Kurnool, and NIT Warangal. The course is offered to 6th semester students of B.Tech or students of 2nd semester of M.Tech/ME or alumni of PTIs. 

Apart from these, there is a PhD course and an MGNF certificate program offered by the institute.
