The placement cell of IIT Dhanbad regularly monitors students' performance in order to present them with lucrative job prospects. Various internship programs, real projects, seminars, and pre-placement lectures are planned to better prepare students for the demands of the professional world. The cell maintains regular contact with HR personnel from top firms regarding future recruitments.

IIT Dhanbad Placement Process

The Career Development Centre(CDC) organizes placement drives for students of all programs. The step-by-step process of conducting the annual IIT Dhanbad placement drive is described below.

• Invitation for placements, along with Placement brochure, are sent to recruiting organizations by CDC/ Companies approaches CDC for placements
• Job Notification Form (JNF)/ Internship Notification Form (INF) are sent to the recruiters for registration.
• Recruiters submit filled JNF and/or INF.
• Data of eligible students is shared with the companies.
• Pre-Placement Talks are scheduled for registered candidates.
• Slots are provided to companies for Online Test/ GD Process etc.
• Company provides the list of shortlisted candidates to CDC for final interview process.
• CDC allots dates to organizations for campus interviews based on various details given by companies.
• In case a student is shortlisted for more than one company in a given slot, he/she is to provide a preference at least an hour before the start of the interviews.
• Shortlisted candidates participate in the hiring process of the company.
• Company submits a list of finally selected students, to CDC, along with a waitlist at the end of the day/ slot.
• CDC confirms the offer acceptance to company based on the student preference collected in Step 9. The confirmation is given within 3 hours of result submission by the company.
• Selected students are taken out from further placement process, in compliance with our One Student, One Job Policy.

IIT Dhanbad Internships

As per the academic curriculum, pre-final year B.Tech and Dual degree candidates must take up internships in the leading companies. Internships are often taken by students in other programs to supplement their educational experiences. Students can also choose to do internships and projects in various national and international academic institutions. Internships enable students to become familiar with industry methods, witness industrial operations, and contact industry professionals who provide student recommendation letters and other support.
