Placements & Internships :
On completion of the first year, students are required to gain a little hands on experience from doing their summer internships. Many companies from banks like HDFC or Marketing Research giants like IMRB Kantar come for the summer internship process. The stipend differs from company to company and the general tenure of the internship is of two months (April and May). Upon completion of the internship, a detailed report is submitted to the company and the college about the project done.
The Placement scenario differs from year to year, but the average CTC offered is generally around 7 to 8 LPA, while the highest CTC offered remains 20.7LPA by JSW. Often more than not, there is 100% placements of students.
The Alumni network is strong and even after passing out, you are still emailed about attractive job offers in the respective Alumnus, if there are any.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
International Management Institute, Kolkata or in short IMI Kolkata accepts students who has an aggregate of 50% or more throughout their class X, XII and Graduation. Candidates who wish to enroll has to submit their CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT scores in order to be shortlisted. Once the application form is filled and the candidate is shortlisted, they are called in for their Individual Assessment which includes Essay Writing and their personal interview. This process is tentatively held around the month of February/March.
Academics & Faculty :
As a student of IMI Kolkata myself, something I loved was the classes. The faculty members are highly educated, passouts from respectful universities. The class timings differ from course to course, it can start from 9am in the morning, or one day it can be at 11am. The routines for the same are provided every week.
Teachers do use presentations to teach and they are quite engrossing and captivating. Tasks, assignments, group projects are assigned from time to time depending on the course and honestly, they used to be very enjoyable for me. It teaches a lot on teamwork, cooperation and time management.
This is a Master's course, so of course there will be pressure, but still, it will always be one of the best experiences ever,
Fees & Scholarships :
The course fee is 13 lakhs (if self sponsored), 15.78 lakhs (if company sponsored) and 22,790$ for foreign students. The fees is broken into different categories like tuition fee, reading material, library fee, security deposit etc.
The fees is paid in installments over the course of two years.
Education loans are available for students who need it. Banks like Bank of Baroda, State Bank, HDFC, Axis Bank have tie ups with the colleges for loans.
Coming to scholaships, IMI Kolkata do provide upto 100% scholarships to students based on merit, financial condition or some remarkable display of achievement in the feild of art, culture or sports. In my year, I knew of only one girl who got 100% scholarship.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are hostel options for out of state candidates or anyone who wants to avail. The boys and girls hostels are seaprate and the hostel fee is included in the fees structure. Since I was from Kolkata, I did not avail the hostel options. However I've visited my friends in the hostel and have found the rooms and lounge area clean and spacious. There were many food options from breakfast to dinner and in all honesty, the food was decent. It wasn't the best, it wasn't bad. But this was in 2018-20. Time has changed now, and to comment now would be misleading.
Mominpore (the exact location of the college) is a place which has many schools and colleges around the area, so finding PGs to stay will also not be a problem for students. The classrooms are huge with spacious individual seats, projectors, white boards and centrally controlled air conditioners. The Wi-Fi is strong and once you start your classes, you'll be provided with the Wi-Fi password by the IT team.
Clubs & Associations :
Life in college is very enjoyable. In the chaos of studies, projects and of course the impending stress about future career, the campus life is like a breath of fresh air. From cultural prgrammes like Holi, Diwali, Christmas to our college occassions like Freshers, Farewell is also there.
On joining, students can participate in various clubs and activities of their choice including committees like Placecomm (Placement), Alcomm (Alumni relations), Cul-Com (the cultural one), Sports-Com (for sports) and many many others in feilds of dance, art, social media, marketing, finance, hr, operations and what not.
What I liked about IMI-K was it recognised and gave importance to other talents of its students apart from studies,
