Facilities :-

Library

The library has a repository of 14636 books, referred scientific journals, national and international magazines. It has a host of local and national newspapers. It also has past exam question papers and project reports. The library has ten computers connected with high speed 2 Mbps broadband dedicated connection. the reading room is attached to the library.

Book Bank

The book bank has 4957 text books on different subjects. Students can borrow text books on long term basis through this scheme in addition to the normal library books.

IT Infrastructure (LAN, Broadband & Wi-Fi)

These facilities have been sponsored by the children of one of the founding fathers of the college, Lt. Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire. All academic departments, library, college office and computer lab are networked by 100 Mbps LAN with high speed 2 Mbps broadband connectivity through a secured client-server system. The entire academic campus is Wi-Fi enabled (secured) through Wi-Fi Hot spots including auditorium and college office. Students can surf the internet for research and knowledge resource through the terminals provided in the library and computer lab which are monitored by central server system for access of any unnecessary websites.

Institutional Biotech Hub

Funded by the Department of Biotechnology, India, the college has set up a Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory in order to provide training primarily to students of the college.

High-end Teaching Aids

All the nine honours classes are fitted with LAN linked-interactive smartboards to enhance teaching-learning experience. Other classrooms will also be digitized soon.

Earn While You Learn

A mini Printing Press unit has been established to undertake minor printing works suach as printing of bulletins, programme sheets, booklets, brochures etc. Also interested students may opt for Mushroom spawn production and cultivation as a part of this scheme. Students participating in various levels of the said activities will be paid from the proceed of sales, charges, etc.

EDUSAT (Education Satellite)

The transmission hub of EDUSAT, nagaland is located at Kohima Science College and is connected to 50 Satellite Interactive Terminals (SITs) located in various parts of the states. It is funded by Indian space research Organization.

Tele-Education

Sponsored by the Ministry of IT, Government of India, the college has a virtual classroom connected through WiMax. Renowned teachers of the country deliver lectures meant to prepare students for Board exams and Entrance tests into IITs and other technical studies.

Certificate Course on Computer Application

In association with NIIT, Kohima, career oriented courses in computer application are offered at a nominal rate. Students, especially those without honours subject may utilize the opportunity to their advantage in terms of preparation for employment after graduation.

Hostels

Kohima Science College has three hostels for boys (170 seats) and one for girls (78 seats). 110 capacity boys hostel is under construction. the hostels are centrally located with easy access to all day-today requirements including the Primary Health Center, Bank (With ATM) and Post office. each hostel has a hall, a refectory, TV and single or shared accommodation. Apart from education, students are exposed to sports and other cultural and religious activities. seat allotment is strictly on merit basis and is monitored by a committee.

Each hostel has a Superintendent and a Prefect. the Prefect assists the Superintendent for the smooth administration of the hhostel. Each hostel also has a Mess Committee which is headed by a Mess Assistant. It ensures that the food is clean, hygienic, of good quality and on time. the kitchen is manned by experienced cooks.

All the boarders are expected to be actively involved in the smooth running of the hostel and help to maintain discipline and a healthy atmosphere.

Transport

The college has four buses pressed into regular bus service to commute students and staff to and from the town. A nominal fee is charged for this service. This transport service is also available for other activities as and when required. A pool vehicle is also available.

Health Care Center, Bank, Post Office etc are all centrally located in the college campus and are therefore easily accessible to all.

Students Day Home

The spacious auditorium is the Students day Home. besides indoor games, the auditorium is also used for literary and cultural functions. the Girls Common Room is attached to the Auditorium.

Games And Sports

The games and sports facilities in the campus not only help the students train physically but also help them develop a sporting spirit. the college has a football filed, a basket ball court and a large auditorium which also doubles as indoor stadium.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission procedure during my time was through online so it was on merit basis (HSSLC marksheet).

Placements & Internships : There are various programmes where we can work part-time and earn while we learn.

Fees & Scholarships : Course fee per year is around 10K (2 semesters). We can apply for Post matric scholarship and merit scholarship for those securing above 70%.

Academics & Faculty : Class starts at 9:00 am and ends around 1:00pm and 3-4:00 pm if there are practical classes.

Clubs & Associations : There are various students union for the different tribes of Nagaland. There are different clubs for various activities. The main festival for the college is the Winfest also known as Winter festival held in December.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 3 government hostels. Two hostels for boys and one for girls. For government hostels, the monthly fee is just Rs. 1500 and a yearly hostel admission fee is around Rs. 3500. There are many private hostels and PGs in and around the college, the fee is however around Rs.4500 per month There is a canteen where we can have light meals. 

Entrance Exams & Admissions : To take admission in physics and mathematics, one has to get at least 45% marks in mathematics and for physics he has to get 45% marks in both subjects. For other subjects, one has to score 45% to be eligible to take admission.

Placements & Internships : There is currently no such facility available in our college. The college helps us in getting a degree and the jobs is all upto us to get it.

Fees & Scholarships : The Course fee is around INR 10000 per year. We apply for state scholarships. Almost all the students get scholarships through the state scholarship scheme. No loan is needed.

Academics & Faculty : Classes starts at 9 am or 10 am. Each period consists of 1 hour. Projects and assignments are done every semester and internal assessments test is held every semester. Odd semester exams are held in the month of November and even semesters in the month of may. The quality and method of teach is very good. It's overall a good experience in our college.

Clubs & Associations : There is an organization called students union. The main festival of the college is called the Winfest or the Winter festival which is the annual sports week. Life in college is good.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 4 government hostels. Three for boys and one for girls. Hostel fee is INR 1500 per month. There are lots of private hostels with good facilities and their hostel fees ranging from INR 4500-INR 5500.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The student can be passed 10+2 with 60% marks. There is a specific college entrance exam held by the college. 30% is the cutoff.

Placements & Internships : The average salary is INR 100000 per month for a regular professor. 

Fees & Scholarships : The admission fee is INR 2500 and exam fee is INR 50 per paper and INR 150 per practical.

Academics & Faculty : Classes start at 9:00 am in the morning and extends till 4:30 pm in the evening. 

Clubs & Associations : Various clubs like Science club, Nature club, NSS, and NCC are very active in the college. We have (NIE) Nagaland Innovation Expo, winfest, parting social, freshers day etc.
