Placements & Internships : The college sends students for an internship at the end of 2nd year and 3rd year, So, I have not yet been to any, but as I heard from my seniors of 4th year, the students got a good stipend, and apart from that the experience gained is very good and useful. Even at the end of 1st year students can try out for internships in the industries but to have an internship with stipend is difficult to find ( not impossible). The details of placements is published each year in the placement brochure in which the names of companies and the salaries are mentioned. Academics & Faculty : The classes at National Institute of Fashion Technology, [NIFT] Kolkata start usually at 9:15 A.M. Each day in NIFT is different in respect of the timetable. Usually, the students have 2-3 classes each day, each classes being of 3 hours. The quality and method of teaching is also equally good.

Fees & Scholarships : The course fee at National Institute of Fashion Technology, [NIFT] Kolkata is Rs. 1,50,000/- per annum. The scholarship available is known as Means - cum- Merit Scholarship, Offered to students whose family income is less, the details of which are there on the website and is uploaded each year. Loans may be required for those students whose family income is less and who cannot afford to bear the expenses. Fashion colleges are expensive and to stay in a metropolitan along with that, it becomes difficult for middle-class people to bear. So loans may be required. NIFT has a tie- up with Union Bank Of India to provide loans.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Only Girls' Hostel is available which is off campus and it does not have enough rooms to accomodate all students. So most people end up in PGs or private hostels which are abundant near the college. To find a PG or private hostel in the area is no big deal. I, myself stay in a PG. Usually their cost varies depending on the room type, size, meals, etc, varying from Rs 4000- 6000 to even Rs 10000 for rooms with ACs and other facilities. The food of the college canteen is good and cheap as well. Apart from the canteen, there is also a coffee place, where tea, coffee, hot chocolate, pasta, sandwich is available. There are also food stalls outside the college, where all types of food is available at reasonable price. The quality of classrooms, labs are very good, they are completely air conditioned and are in good condition. The library or the resource centre is awesome, having a huge collection of books, magazines, newspapers. The entire campus has wi- fi facility.

Clubs & Associations : There are four clubs, namely, Cultural, Social, Sports and Literary, each of them being very active. The concil members are elected, president and secretary are alloted to each club and the clubs participate in various events in and out of college.  NIFT celebrates a lot of festivals, CONVERGE and SPECTRUM are the center of attractions over here, Cultural festivals being, Vishwakarma Puja, Saraswati Puja, Lohri.. World Handloom Day.. The Sports events organised on Campus are NIFT Football League, Badminton League and various other games.  Once you get into NIFT, you understand each day is full of enthusaism and along with academics, people over here are equally active in extra curricular activities. As it is a Fashion college, the college participates in a lot of fashion events as well and brings thr trophy and glory to the college.
