Wi-Fi Campus

The technology-rich environment for students on NIT Uttarakhand campus includes, high-speed, high-capacity gigabit Ethernet fiber optic data network infrastructure. All labs are connected for high-speed 34Mbps BSNL and 1Gbps NKN Internet access . All the hostels class rooms are facilitate with high speed wireless Indoor and Outdoor access points. The growing campus wireless network can accommodate more than 1,000 simultaneous users. Student can also download important software, lectures from institute FTP server from anywhere in campus.

ATM

An ATM of SBI is installed in the Polytechnic Campus of the Institute.

Auditorium

The Institute has a multi-purpose auditorium that is used for seminars, workshops, recreation, gatherings, screening movies, etc. The auditorium has the seating capacity of 300 persons.

Open Air Theater

An open air theater is established at the ITI Campus of the Institute which hoists various cultural events.

Canteen

The canteen of the Institute serves cafeteria items at a reasonable price.

Conference Hall

The Conference Hall of the Institute has the seating capacity of 70 people. It is used for conducting meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.

Gymnasium

The Institute boasts of a well-equipped gymnasium, with all the necessary and modern facilities, for the enhancement of health and stamina of its students.

Alternate Power Sources

Institute has Four Diesel Generator sets and Two are under process of procurement of 30 kVA capacity each for backup supply in the campus. Each Hostel is provided with 24 X 7 electricity supply. All the departments of the institute are also equipped with Diesel Generator facility for emergency supply in the institute.

Movie Club

In the academic year 2014-15, NIT UK received necessary approvals for the initiation of a Movie Club and the Club started functioning from August, 2014. The Club aims not only at providing entertainment and recreation, it also focuses on generating social consciousness among students. It strives to make students aware of the current social problems and impress upon them the idea that education cannot be limited within the confines of a classroom. Contextually, it attempts to make students global citizens by acquainting them to alien cultures and practices, and by unmasking the commonality amongst their differences. The Movie Club screens classic, award-winning movies and documentaries in English, Hindi, and other regional languages and such movies are handpicked by a Committee, comprising of students, staff, and faculty members of the Institute. In addition to the entertainment side, the club encourages creative thinking among students by promoting activities like short-documentary making, conducting workshops regarding film making, and use of various photography techniques, composing film critiques, etc. Further, the club grooms and nurtures English-speaking confidence among the students, develops English communication skills and familiarize them to proper pronunciation and grammar by screening English movies.

The Movie Club at NIT Uttarakhand screens 2 movies every week at its Auditorium. The auditorium has a seating capacity of around 125 people and is equipped with fire safety devices, 5000 lux projector, 3 speakers, 3 amplifiers, sound mixer, 8 surround sound speakers, and a DSP processor procured from JBL. The movie club caters not only to the students but also to staff and faculty members of the Institute.

Medical Facility For the Students

The dispensary provides basic medical facilities for the students and staff members. A Doctor offers daily service at the dispensary in the evening. A nurse is available in the Institute for 24 hours. The Institute has tie-ups with hospitals in Srinagar and Dehradun. All students are offered health insurance facilities. The Institute plans to procure an ambulance in the near future.

Campus Security

Presently the Security comprises 4 Supervisors and 51 (47 male + 4 female) security guards. The guards are deployed at Main Gate, Hostels, Academic Building, Administrative Building, Departments etc. round the clock in three shifts on rotation basis. One Supervisor is posted in each shift to supervise the security guards. The main duty of security guards is to look after the assets of the Institution besides maintaining discipline in the campus. All guards are issued identity card, uniform, shoes, caps, belts & batton etc.

Library And Information Centre

The library has open access system along with a reading room facility. The Library houses a total collection of approx. 32,000 printed books (with more than 6000 titles) which includes Text books and Reference books in the field of Engineering and Technology, Sciences and Humanities, English Literature and Fiction. The library has a rich collection of E-books (i.e. 26,457 titles) procured from various renowned publishers and the library subscribes various online databases to increase and enhance the quality of academic and research work. The library subscribes 69 magazines for the students as magazines plays an important role in an educational institution or organization and supply the variety of news on a regular basis (i.e. weekly, monthly etc.) and keep the users updated about the latest news and happenings taking place in our country as well as in the world at large. The library's has Online Public Access Catalogue to search all the bibliographic records available in the library through a web based search i.e. WebOPAC.

Sports Facilities

Institution provides the following indoor and outdoor sports facilities of various games and sports.

The sports arena is near the boy's hostel and is also with well-equipped facilities. So the players can practice at night time also. Students have opportunity to play at any time to have fun. Institute hires the indoor stadium & ground for practice and organizing the tournament from the other Institute. Overall, the institute has sufficient facilities for games and sports.NIT Uttarakhand has a sports council to coordinate all the sports activities. In spite of being a new NIT, the Institute has been successful in developing a firm foundation in the field of sports. The department provides and maintains the sports facilities required by the students and the staff.
