Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology was founded in 1995 by the Punjab Government Department of Industries and Commerce in response to the need for trained professionals in the textile and garment industry. Library

• The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) has a massive collection of books and journals in fashion, art, management, and technology.
• The library at NIIFT is organised according to the modern paradigm of librarianship. It comprises books and other published resources by Indian and international writers and publishers that cover the educational programmes and associated topics. It has subscriptions to major Indian and international textile, fashion, and apparel journals and fashion forecasting services.
  It features a huge collection of fashion and garment production-related videotapes, slides, and photographs.
• NIIFT Mohali also provides a reference service for industry personnel and those involved in the fashion sector.

Resource Centre

• It is a knowledge and information hub that supports teaching and research program at the institute.
• Textiles, costumes, samples, swatches, decorations, accessories, and clothing are available at the resource centre.
• It offers a diverse selection of textile materials, including Indian traditional and contemporary fabrics and woven, knitted, printed, and embroidered fabrics. Fabrics that are being created specifically for export are also stacked for reference in the resource centre.
• Embroideries, laces, yarns, trims, beads, buttons, zippers, fusing, interlinings, and other important materials from India and beyond are catalogued for reference in the resource centre.

Labs

• NIIFT Mohali facilities include workshops for garment construction, draping, pattern making, fashion art and illustration, and sketching.
• It has a weaving lab, knitting lab, and dyeing & printing lab.
• A textile-testing lab equipped with basic testing machines allows students to gain practical experience in line with the industry needs.

Classrooms

• Audio-visual equipment such as slide projectors, direct projectors, VCRs, televisions, and multimedia projectors are available in all classrooms.

IT Facility

• The department of information technology is furnished with hardware, software, and network capabilities.
• The computer centre features a well-equipped resource base with Intel Core 2 duo CPUs, Pentium –IV machines, plotters, scanners, printers, and CD writers, among other things.
• A high-speed switched Ethernet network connects the complete computing infrastructure. TUKACAD and INFO DESIGN are two of the advanced and special-purpose software available at the computer centre.

Hostel

• The college provides excellent residential facilities to the girls students.
• NIIFT Mohali hostel has a mess service and is well-equipped with modern facilities.
