The College, since its early days has been providing accommodation to out-station students in the hostel, which has three blocks (Uttara, Purabi and Malancha). The College hostel can provide accommodation to more than 250 inmates. A part-time medical officer is appointed by the college to provide basic medical help to the hostel boarders. In case of emergencies, help is also sought from the adjacent Jalpaiguri Welfare Organization - an NGO - to which some well-known doctors and medical practitioners of the town are attached. If necessary, cases are referred to the Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital.
Hostel Administration:
The Principal of the College is the ex-officio in-charge of the college hostel. The College Hostel has a Out-house Superintendent-in-Charge and an in-house Asst. Superintendent supported by a matron. The last Out-house Superintendent-in-Charge has retired recently; the college will do the needful to fill this post within a short time.
Grievance Redressal Cell
The College has a Grievance Redressal Cell to take note of grievances and complaints of the students and their parents or members of different sections of the society. The students approach members of the cell with their complaints and grievances regarding academic matters, college fees, awards and scholarships, library and similar matters. There is a Grievance letter box in front of the stairs leading to the 1st floor of the main building. Students can express their grievance, in writing, and drop it in the grievance box. A dedicated team under the guidance of the principal of the college looks into the matters relating to individual issues of the students and tries to resolve them with utmost care.
Alumni Facilities
The Alumni Association of the college was set up with the objective of involving the former students of the college in various developmental programmes and initiatives undertaken by the college. The association seeks to strike effective and meaningful liaison between the former students and their alma mater. With this end in view, the association would consider the holding of annual reunion of its members regularly, and would invite the expertise and knowledge of the members for the development of the college. All the former students and the outgoing students of P. D. Women’s College are invited to register themselves as members of Alumni Association by filling up the registration form, which is already available on the college website. Registration forms are also available at the college office. The next plan of actions like meeting with the members of alumni association, participation in college cultural programme, assistance wherever required in college development etc. will be notified time to time on the college website.
Career and Counselling Cell
The UGC-sponsored Career and Counselling Cell has been actively engaged in providing support to the young learners through a variety of programmes and activities round the year. The Cell strives to take care of the well-being of the students who may face psychosocial problems and thus regularly organizes workshops, seminars and other tailor-made programmes to sensitize them to the issues. In addition to that the students are encouraged to contact the Cell with their individual problems or difficulties. The Cell seeks to offer support to students in preparing themselves for the different jobs. With this end in view, the Cell subscribes to a number of books and newspapers and the students can access all these materials. The motivational talk, interactive sessions conducted by the experts are regularly organized to make the young learners aware of various opportunities and to equip them with necessary skills for facing the challenges of the job market. The Career and Counselling Cell Page in the social media like Facebook is updated with the activities and programmes of the Cell. The office of the Cell is located at Room No 5, and the Cell welcomes feedback, suggestions from the students.
