Innovation plays significant role in sustainable economic development of countries and upliftment of the society. The world has been transforming from industrial economy to innovations economy in which countries develop well thought out plan to integrate innovations in their core economic system. The first 100 years of the countries’ history were about who can make largest, biggest and most efficient farm. The second 100 years were about the race to build efficient factories. The third 100 years are about ideas and innovations. Those who innovate faster and better will rule world the market place.
The history of innovation dates back to ancient BC when systems for agriculture, domestication of animals, irrigation, pottery, weaving and casting of metals were invented. The Middle Ages (5th – 15th Centuries AD), often termed The Dark Ages, were actually a time of great discovery and invention. The Middle ages saw major advances in technologies like heavy plough, tidal mills, spinning wheels, hour glass, blast furnace, eye glasses, mechanical cloak and printing press. The 16th century is the period known as the Renaissance, which means “rebirth” and refers to the rediscovery of antiquity. During this period, there came many innovations in art, paintings, sculptures, drama and literature. The major inventions of the 16th century include the stocking frame, the portable watch, graphite pencils and the flush toilet, compound microscope and water thermometer. During the 17th century major changes in philosophy and science took place. There were many developments in chemistry, physics, mathematics and human anatomy in which the inventions of telescope, microscope and the force of gravity are most vital among all. The 18th century saw the widespread replacement of manual labor by new inventions and machinery. In this era, the inventions of steam engine, submarine, vaccine for smallpox, hot air balloon, threshing machine, power loom, bicycles, ball bearings, battery, chemical bleaching were most prominent.
Alumni
The success ratio of placement of any institute depends on the active cell of its alumni also. In the 9th year of existence the institute has a very big base of the alumni. Twice in a year the alumni meet takes place. The alumni of the institute are globally present and are helpful to the institute by tying up with different industries, providing necessary guidance to the students for placement (final as well as summer) in different sectors.
