Fees & Scholarships :
The course fee is approximately 90,000 INR per year (including examination fees and tuition fees). The students getting CGPA 9.5 above are eligible for scholarships and they are given some around 500-700 scholarship per month in their accounts. 3-4 students from every branch acquire a scholarship. The fee is quite affordable, I have never seen anyone applying for a loan to make for it.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
A student is eligible for admission in UIET if he has completed his senior secondary in Non-Medical branch and has appeared for JEE MAIN Entrance Examination. You are eligible for the admission process if you get qualified in the Examination. To participate in the counseling work of Chandigarh Colleges named as JAC Chandigarh and on the basis of your AIR, you will be granted the college (rank wise) and then the rank will decide your trade of Engineering. Say AIR ranging below 80,000 may get admission in top-ranked college out of the 5 participating colleges of JAC Chandigarh and out of those the students with ranks like in between first 20,000 will get Computer Science Engineering and next 20k in maybe IT and so on. The closing rank for my course was AIR 27000
Placements & Internships :
I have been a member of the training sessions conducted by the College Staff, but before final year college doesn't provide internship in companies.
Companies like Deloitte, ZS, Optum, Adobe, Infosys, Mu Sigma, etc hire students to work with them.
Average salary package is 3.5-5 lpa, highest package so far has been 20 l.p.a (depends on company), and for CSE and IT students there is 95% placement record, for other branches is it 60-70%.
Alumni are good at conducting workshops but they should also broadcast their network and try to get internships for students in 3rd year and some lessons by the industry expersts for the better guidace of students.
Academics & Faculty :
The college timings are from 9 am to 5 pm and there is a balanced combination of labs and classes everyday. we also have tutorials for doubt sessions. Quality of Education is entirely based on theoretical stuff and books and exams are a priority, rather than focusing on practical implications. The method of teaching is fine because the teachers use all possible aids like projectors for giving us the essence of the matter, blackboards to make us understand and notes material for learning. The overall experience is good as the environment is nice.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are 10 hostels for girls and 8 hostels for boys currently running plus 1 International Hostel for both boys and girls. The maintenance of the hostels is really good and the room rent is around 1800 per month but it is around 7000 for International hostels. One may find a variety of PGs outside the college campus and at an affordable price of 6000-10000 per month including all facilities. The food is good in taste and its just Rs. 50 for a heavy meal. Quality of classrooms is not that good. Labs and Libraries are really well equipped. wifi facilities are available for 24/7. Other infrastructure is fine too.
Clubs & Associations :
There has been a number of clubs and student organizations like Rotaract, BPC, TPC, Osmium, Magboard, EDC etc. We have our annual cultural fest as GOONJ and annual sports meet. There is an annual placement drive called AVASAR. Life is good, relaxed and very calm in college.
