Calcutta University result has been released for various courses like BA, B.Com and B.Sc courses on June 07, 2024 on its official website. Clubs & Associations : There is a wide range of clubs to be a part of, and students can also be part of a lot of campus happenings on the ground.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for the course were to pass 12 with a minimum of 50% marks, and it was grade based admission process. No entrance exams were given. Cut off was 70% for the course.
Placements & Internships : It is a good college for studies, but the faculty awards no placements or scholarships. Mostly, students took off-campus internships to cope with job competition.
Fees & Scholarships : Rs. 5000 was the yearly fee for each semester. There were no scholarship options available for students. There are no loans required to pursue education. Anyone can easily pursue this.
Academics & Faculty : The classes were from 9 am to 5 pm. There were 8 periods with one lunch break. The quality of the method and teaching was very professional. The students needed to self-study more and more. The overall experience of college was a bit bland.

Clubs & Associations : This college provides many sports facilities and with the help of these sports, there is a sponsorship that is available through the sports club. The main festival of this college is related to sports activities where all the capable students should participate. In general, this college provides all types of facilities from infrastructure and good canteens to great offices. This college also has the college lab and libraries where the classroom has its own projectors. Overall this college has a great environment with all type of facilities that is required.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : The basic eligibility for this course is the completion of 10+2 or its equivalent exam in commerce from the recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks score. However, the minimum marks that the college requires to offer admission in this course may vary from college to college. I have not engaged in any entrance examination This college asks for the best of four subject marks where the day batch has a cutoff of approximately 90 to 93% and for the morning batch it has to be 94% in the best four subjects.
Placements & Internships : I have not engaged in any internships and stipends. In our college for B.com honors, we need to have 65% as the top recruiting companies for this course are Amazon, SBI, HDFC, and many more. A minimum of 65% of students got internships from our course in banking companies. The top roles that are offered in this course are HR manager, financial advisory, CA, etc. The current salary of recent graduates is generally lower than the current salary of students who graduated in previous batches. Such as in 2012-2014 the salary of the student was 3.9 lakh and now from 2018-2020, the salary of the student is 2.6 lakh. Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College is a private alumni network that connects alumni, students, and faculty. They have Alma connect which is a social network with a mission to power private alumni networks using the technology which helps to bring them together as a group and connect in a meaningful way.
Fees & Scholarships : Per year the course fee for Accountancy honors in Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College is 24,200. A number of full free studentships and half free studentships are granted to meritorious and economically weak students. Students belonging to SC/ST category are granted stipends by the Director of Public Instructions, Govt. of West Bengal on the recommendation of the college. 60% of students on average get this scholarship facility. The maximum loan size with collateral has no upper limit (Indians) but its 1cr (Abroad)
Academics & Faculty : For B.com the daily classes start from 6:00-6:30 am and the examination is based on the semester wise where the students have to submit their assignments for each subject. Teachers are quite co-operative and always helpful in the hours of need. The faculty-student ratio is about 9:1. Teachers are quite well qualified. Terms are twice a year and moderate to hard level. The facilities that are available make this college more unique and the teachers are also very helpful.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College does not provide any hostel. There are numerous pg facilities for both boys and girls with the average cost of 12000per month. Quality and taste of food is acceptable. Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibity criteria for a candidate aspiring to enroll for MA in English in 2010 was a cut off of 55% in graduation. For a candidate to take up Masters in English from the University of Calcutta, he/she must hold specialization in English Literature or Comparative Literature or Communicative English in the Bachelors Degree. However, now after graduating with a BA(Honours) degree, applications forms are to be filled up and submitted post which entrance examinations are conducted to further shortlist candidates for the course.
Placements & Internships : No internships and stipends are offered for this course. Students pursuing this course, in general, opt for higher degrees in the academic line. So there is no campus hiring offered for the course. The alumni network is mostly informal and organizes reuniouns.
Fees & Scholarships : Since its a goveernment institution, the course is as low as under 5000/-. Dr. Hensi Stephen Scholarship is presented to MA English students.
Academics & Faculty : Classes start at 10.30am and end at 4.30pm. Exams are held in the months of June-July. The quality of teaching is very good since the department consists of few of the best professors and lectureres in English literature, who also teach abroad.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 16 hostel facilities provided by the University. More than 1500 students can find accomodation. The undergraduates and postgraduates have different hostel facilities. Application forms are to be filled to get accomodation in the hostels. Annual hostel fees is between 2040/- to 2160/-. There are PGs also ranging between from 2000/- and 4000/- for those who do not get hostel accomodation. The canteen offers good food at subsidised prices. cost per meal in the hotels surrounding the University start from 50/- per plate for plain veg and going up to 80/- for non-veg. The classrooms are huge and old fashioned with the traditional style of teaching.
