I got placed in HPE, Bangalore through college campus placement for the DevOps Engineer intern role. My stipend was Rs. 15500 per month.Since I was a computer application student, most of the companies were software and technology-based companies. But there were different types of companies for other courses.In VIT, there provide more opportunities for students. We have an on-campus interview that is only for VITians and an off-campus interview common for all students from other colleges. VIT provides career opportunities for VITians, but they give chances for all other college students. So, there will be numerous companies from startup companies to top dream companies so that students will have n number of options.The average salary per year will starts from 1.8L to 24L for freshers. And the highest placement rate record was 35% in the year 2020 campus interview.VIT respects all our alumni. We have a separate portal, especially for alumni. We can register ourselves there. VIT conducts alumni chapters all over the counties in the world to keep our alumni together. Also, every Jan 26 they invite all our old students and conduct a get-together program in college.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
I completed my ug course at VIT University Vellore. Later, I continued my PG course in VIT. The eligibility criteria were to complete my UG course in the same steam to join the PG course. As I completed BCA, it was easy for me to pursue MCA.The admission process started with applying on application. Then I was scheduled with an entrance exam at the university. Then I attended my entrance exam. This exam was a little difficult but similar to CAT, MAT, XAT exams. There were aptitude questions, English grammar questions, Computer technical questions, and mathematical questions. The exam timing was 3hrs, and it was an online exam.Later, the result was published in rank order. Only students who got in the top 1000 rank were eligible for the counselling section. I was called for counselling in university. I don't know about the cutoff's, but the result was based on rank order. There were nearly 200 seats available in VIT, Vellore.
Fees & Scholarships :
Rs. 150000/- was the course fee per year at VIT University, [VIT] Vellore. I spent 3L on my course and there were no additional fees or exam fees or book fees or lab fees or anything. It was only the term fees that I paid at the start of the academic year.VIT also provides a lot of scholarship options for toppers and the needy. They keep it simple so that eligible students can approach the officials easily to get scholarships. VIT also provides a lot of options to pursue their research abroad and provide scholarships for that.I am not sure about the exact average number of students who get the scholarship, but as I know, there might be 10 %- 15% of students get the scholarship in college.Yes, most of the students take an educational loan to pursue their studies. But VIT makes it so easy for students. For students who are willing to take loans, VIT counsellors to direct them to the banker. The banker will be waiting near the counselling hall, and if you provide proper documents on time, it is so easy for students to get an educational loan.
Academics & Faculty :
VIT follows a unique education system that is FFCS(Fully Flexible Credit System). This is a student-friendly educational system. Students will be given full course details at the time of joining. The course details contain all information on the name of courses and the credits they have to complete to earn their degree. Students can select which course to be completed in which semester under which professor and with student's flexible timing. To complete each course teachers provide projects, assignments to help students have hands-on experience. They will be 3 written assessment and practical exams too. Every semester each student should attend the SET conference and try to publish 1 paper at this conference. VIT doesn't just provide education, but they also make students professionals.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
There are 23 hostels on the VIT campus. 17 Men's hostels, which accommodate 13000 students and 6 Women's Hostels have room for 4300 students in single, double, Three, four bedded, and six bedded rooms. A gym facility is also attached with a well maintained swimming pool.There are many PG options available outside college with different prices for different types of students.VIT has been amply blessed with three fully-equipped multi-cuisine canteens present at three strategic locations in college with the best price for students.VIT provides free Wi-Fi inside the college. Periyar Central Library in VIT is one of the top libraries with all facilities. Classes are fully equipped with projectors, fans, tube lights, etc. VIT is a well-maintained college.
Clubs & Associations :
VIT also provides importance to extracurricular activities in college. They have a dance club, singing club, drama club, sports club, language club, etc. Every student must participate in any one of the clubs. It is mandatory for them to participate in any clubs and earn two credits from extracurricular activities to complete the course.VIT celebrate every festival with full enthusiasm. But Riviera and GraVits is the most special festival for students in VIT. In simple words, VIT is heaven. VIT a place to learn A chance to grow. Once a VITian, always a VITian.
