B.Tech Mining Engineering Course Structure

In general, a B.Tech Mining Engineering course is structured as a core and elective subject. The course is divided into eight semesters. A weightage of 40% of contact time is given for practical and 60% for theory. Assessment is based on sessional examinations, practical tests, final written examination, internal viva-voce

examination, quality of fieldwork, field reports, seminars, and project work. Assessment is 100% internal in case of practicals and 40% internal and 60% external in case of theory. The overall evaluation is 30% by internal assessment and 70% by external assessment. The course structure is:

  • VIII Semesters
  • Core and Elective subjects
  • Internship
  • Project Submission

B.Tech Mining Engineering Teaching Methodology and Techniques

B.Tech Mining Engineering covers various kinds of teaching methods and techniques. Apart from the basic traditional lecture-based training, the students are trained with significant emphasis laid in the curriculum on practical studies. Students participate in various seminars, group discussions, field trips, and take up projects in 2 to 3. These projects are experimental and practical. In short, the teaching methodology and techniques are:

  • Practical Sessions
  • Group Projects
  • Seminars
  • Group Discussions
  • Field Studies
  • Case Methodology
  • Workshop

B.Tech Mining Engineering Projects

B.Tech mining engineering is a 4-year graduate course in which the aspirants have to do a project in the final year.

Popular mining engineering projects are:

  • Analysis and design of surface mine slopes
  • Operating and capital cost estimation research
  • Giants Reef mining examination
  • Gold Fields operation investigation
  • Mechanized Rock Excavation investigation
  • Mine development and stopping schedule analysis
