Karnataka Chief Minister Appeals Centre to Conduct National Competitive Exams in Kannada

National-Level Competitive Examination in Kannada: On the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava yesterday, Nov 1, state Chief Minister Siddharamaiah appeals to conduct all the National-Level Competitive Examinations in the native Kannada language. 

Speaking about the same, Siddharamaiah stated, "We cannot agree to the Centre conducting competitive examinations only in English and Hindi. Earlier, too, I had insisted they be held in Kannada as well. I will demand the same again".

Siddharamaiah believes that conducting competitive examinations in Kannada would increase career opportunities and help the candidates of Karnataka to grow economically and socially. 

As per the current scenario, parents believe that if their kid studies in Kannada medium, they will face difficulties in getting jobs in future. Speaking about it, Siddharamaiah thinks that if the competitive examinations are held in the native language, students from Kannada medium will be able to crack the exam and obtain jobs as per their capabilities. 

Regarding this thought, the Government of Karnataka has invested resources to improve the quality of education provided in Kannada medium schools, and electricity will be made accessible for such schools. However, the depletion rate of Government Schools in Karnataka is a matter of concern. The government has introduced many schemes to attract children towards Government schools, but it is deeply affected by the private schools.

Conducting National-Level Competitive examinations in native languages will be of great help for candidates who are proficient in their native language and will be able to crack exams and get the jobs they desire. However, since these exams are held at the national level, the job allotment might be in any other state. Candidates might need help communicating in other states.

While this move would help candidates of the native state it will be difficult for the Centre to accept this move as all the other states might also demand it. The response from the Centre is awaited.
