Founded in 1871, Alcorn State University (ASU) is a public land-grant university located in Lorman, Mississippi. It has a diverse living and learning environment for the development of students in skills they need for lasting success and offers a nurturing and guidance platform with independence and accountability. ASU is the first historically black university founded with a motto of “Where Knowledge and Character Matter” and is currently home to many brilliant minds across the globe.
ASU has three campuses in Lorman, Natchez, and Vicksburg. The main campus at Alcorn stands in isolation and is at a distance from all the neighboring cities with an approximate distance of 40 to 80 miles from Vicksburg or Jackson.
