Delta State University (DSU) is a public Institution located in Cleveland, Mississippi, in the Mississippi delta. DSU started off as a college for teachers, hence the University sustains its excellence in teacher education, as well as providing other unique programs of study.

When was Delta State University Established?

Delta State University was established in 1924 by the state of Mississippi as an institution for teachers. In 1955, it was renamed Delta State Teachers College Delta State College. In 1965 it developed graduate programs and was open for admissions. In 1974 the state legislature authorized the college to be named Delta State University as we know it today.
