The Evangelical Lutheran Synod owns and operates Bethany Lutheran College, a Christian liberal arts college dedicated to the Bible's teachings as stated in the Lutheran Confessions. Bethany Ladies College was founded in 1911 with 44 students and four staff members, with the purpose of educating young women. BLC was purchased by the Norwegian Synod, afterwards known as the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), in 1927. Until 1969, when the high school department was abolished, the ELS managed the school as a co-educational high school and junior college. Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary began as a department of Bethany Lutheran College in 1946 and became an independent university in 1975.

Bethany Lutheran College has six academic scholarships. The application deadline for these scholarships is February 28, for Fall enrollment. All academic scholarships are awarded annually. There is a renewal requirement that the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.
