Named after the clergyman Richard Furman, Furman University was established in 1826. It is the oldest private university of higher learning in South Carolina.
Furman University is located in Greenville, South Carolina. This 190-year-old university has the popular “Paladin” as their mascot and their motto is “Christo et Doctrinae ”.
Furman University is authorized to grant bachelor's, education specialist, and master’s degrees by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It was accredited in 1924.
