Hamilton College is a private liberal arts college that was founded as “Hamilton-Oneida Academy” but was later charted as Hamilton College in honor of statesmen and politician Alexander Hamilton. It has been a coeducational institution since it merged with its sister school Kirkland College in 1978. Hamilton is one of the most selective colleges in the United States of America and is also a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
