The New School Admission Requirement

Applying to any of the schools and colleges that form a part of the New School, will enable the students to explore opportunities across programs that will help them in charting their own academic path. 

Undergraduate Admission at The New School

The admission process for domestic and international undergraduate admissions is the same. Each college at the New School has unique application requirements which may include auditions, portfolio submissions, or essays. 

Eligibility Criteria for International students 

  1. GPA of at least 3.42 and above
  2. Minimum SAT/ACT scores of 1,207 and 26 respectively
  3. Minimum TOELF, IELTS, PTE scores as required for various courses

Postgraduate Admission at The New School

Admission applications for all postgraduate courses should be made using the New School’s online application. The deadlines for applications for different programs are different.

Eligibility Criteria for International Students

  1. Submission of official transcripts
  2. Proof showing English proficiency 
  3. Submission of academic records
  4. Proof of funding
  5. Letter of recommendation 

The New School Application Process for International Students

The process of application for international students is the same as domestic students with a few added requirements. The New School accepts applications from students from all over the world. Around 35% of the total are international students. A list of required documents for Indian students is given below:

Required Documents

  • High school transcripts from the last three years with a minimum GPA of 3.4
  • An essay in about 500-600 words stating why the student is fit for the chosen college
  • Proof of proficiency in English
  • Letters of recommendation
  • A statement of purpose
  • Additional requirements of portfolio etc if necessary depending upon the college

How to Apply?

  • Selection of the program that interests you 
  • Apply using the New School online application or common application depending upon your course choice
  • Pay application fee of $75
  • Completion and submission of the application form

The New School Application Deadlines

Fall and Spring are the two intake seasons at the New School. Five schools namely, Parsons School of Designs, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, College of Performing Arts, The New School for Social Research, School of Public Engagement, and Parsons Paris form a part of the New School and the deadlines for different courses from all above colleges and schools vary. Deadlines for a few are mentioned below:

Admission Procedure at The New School

Once admitted to the New School, the students have to keep a few things in mind and follow a few steps. The admission procedure at the New school is as follows:

  • Confirmation of enrollment by payment of $500 non-refundable tuition fees deposit
  • Access your student ID number
  • Sign in to your New School account
  • Submit official New school photo
  • Make an application for on-campus housing
  • Pay tuition fees and finalize aid
  • Enroll or waive student health insurance plan
