AISSCE full-form is All India Senior School Certificate Examination, also known as Boards Exams in common language which is a centralized examination conducted by CBSE the Central Boards of Secondary Education for class 12. AISSCE is a mandatory test for the students studying in a CBSE-affiliated school.

What is AISSCE?

The All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) is the final examination conducted every year at the CBSE's end of the academic year. The marks scored in the AISSCE exams are used for admissions in colleges for undergraduate courses.

The subject included in these board examinations depends on the stream the student opts for after the 10th. The four highly common streams that students choose from are - Medical, Non-medical, Commerce, and Arts. The pattern and grades for the examination remain constant throughout; however, the subjects differ. A student needs to retake the exam if not qualified with the passing score.

Is AISSCE & CBSE Are Same?

Commonly asked question - Is CBSE & AISSCE are same? The answer is - No, AISSCE & CBSE are not the same, but both are related to each other.

• CBSE is the Central Board of Secondary Education, India's national-level and biggest education board for private and public schools. At the same time, AISSCE is All India Senior's Secondary Certificate Examination, an examination conducted by the CBSE for class 12th.
• AISSCE is conducted for class 12, AISSE, the All India Secondary School Examination, is conducted for class 10, and the CBSE controls both.

AISSCE Pattern

Each subject in AISSCE is graded out of 100 marks. For subjects like Chemistry, Biology, etc., the examination is graded out of 70/80 marks; 20/30 are kept for practicals. The Central Board of Secondary Education is also considering adding practicals to subjects like Mathematics and Social Sciences. Every examination is three hours long, with short and long theory questions.

To pass AISSCE, students need to pass every subject with a minimum of 33 marks. The practical examinations' duration depends on the subject and varies based on the practical to be performed. 

The practicals are conducted in a center pre-decided by CBSE. And students must follow the below instructions.

• Students are required to arrive at the center at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam.
• Students also need to carry their admit cards for the exams at their respective schools at least 2-3 weeks before the exams.
• The result for the exams is announced online, usually in the first week of May.

However, from 2020, the timeline to conduct exams has changed due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Therefore, this year, as per the latest reports, the results will be declared by mid-July.

With a standard and structured curriculum, help is also available readily. CBSE allows students from both affiliated schools and non-affiliated schools to appear in AISSCE.

• Compact Structure 

The syllabus in the CBSE curriculum is well structured and relatively easier. After the 10th, the subjects are divided, keeping in mind the requirements of students taking various streams. Along with that, the NCERT books followed by CBSE are well-written as well.
