BPUT grade system follows the grade point average system to evaluate the academic performance of its students. The grading system is based on a 10-point scale, with grades ranging from A+ to E. Candidates scoring between 90-100 will be awarded a grade of O, a score of 80-89 will have an E grade, and so on.

Requirements for Award of Degree
A candidate will be eligible for a B.Tech, B.Arch, or B. Pharm degree at the Biju Patnaik University of Technology if they meet all of the requirements listed below:
- Candidates should have completed all subjects with a passing grade (minimum) and obtained the necessary number of credit points for their field of study.
- Candidates should have achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 6.0.
- The student must have paid all the fees and dues required by the university. They must not have any pending backlogs or arrears in any of the courses in the program.
- The student must complete the degree program within the prescribed duration.
Skipping a Subject: After the end of the final semester, students who received more credits than the required minimum in a category and want to skip a subject (in which they have failed or not appeared) must submit a formal application to the university through their college.
Rules for Reward of Gold Medals
According to the grading system in BPUT, based on the student's highest cumulative GPA who graduated during the academic year, the best graduate or university gold medal winner will be chosen.
- Multiple candidates with the same cumulative GPA may be declared Joint Winners to award a gold medal, scholarships, etc.
- Candidates with CGPAs of less than 8.50 will not be considered for the Gold Medal as per the BPUT grade system.
- Students who take a Special Examination will not be considered for the Gold Medal.
- For branches with identical syllabi (such as ETC and EC), AE&I and I&f shall be considered jointly.
Retotalling of Answer Scripts
Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) provides the facility of re-totaling and rechecking answer scripts to the students appearing for the semester examinations regarding BPUT grade system. The re-totaling and rechecking procedures are as follows:
- In case a student has doubts about the marks awarded for a particular question or the total marks awarded for the answer script, the student can apply for a re-evaluation of the answer script.
- The student has to submit a written application to the controller of examinations within 7 days of the declaration of the result, along with the necessary fees as prescribed by the university. The answer script will be re-totaled, and the revised marks will be updated in the mark sheet if there is any change.

Rules for Promotion
Below are the rules mentioned for the candidates for promotion as per the grading system of BPUT.
- A candidate must get at least a pass grade on each theory, practical, project, seminar, sessional, and viva voce and maintain a minimum overall performance to pass a programme or course as per the BPUT grade system.
- If a candidate meets the requirements outlined in the rules established by the Academic Council, they will be eligible for promotion to the next higher level or year.
- Candidates who have been declared eligible for promotion to the following level without completing each course requirement from the prior semesters individually must first apply for and get authorization from the director or principal of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology before registering.
- Within the time limit specified in the academic calendar, the Biju Patnaik University of Technology will publish a list of all successful candidates for each semester examination.
- The aggregate results of all the examinations for the relevant programme will be used to determine the overall performance of a successful candidate for the degree award.
- The cumulative grade point average will be used to determine each student's proficiency level based on the BPUT grade system.
BPUT Result Revaluation
Any student can request a copy of the answer sheet or a re-evaluation of their answers as per the BPUT grade system. Candidates have 30 days from the time the results of the semester's BPUT are announced to submit their online revaluation application. However, this choice is not offered for every exam.
All students are recommended to finish the application form for re-totaling/rechecking the answer sheet and turn it in with the required payments before the deadline.

The student can check their BPUT results on the official website and the scorecard after the results are announced. To find out their SGPA, scores, and other information, candidates must download the BPUT provisional certificate (online results).
