Exams are divided into three sections with first two carrying 20 marks each and the final one having 50. The students are graded from S, A-F depending on the marks gained by the end of the year. The institute has a strict 80% percent attendance policy failing which the student would be required to repeat the course. The quality of the faculty is not remarkable mainly because of the shortage of permanent faculty which are filled in by Ad-Hocs.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The admission process of NIT, Calicut like other national institutes in India are based on the ranks obtained through JEE Mains. Being one of the top NITs in the country, the closing ranks of the core courses such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science engineering are on the higher side. Students who've completed their matriculation abroad can also apply through the DASA scheme where 10% of the total seats in each branch are allocated to DASA applicants.

Placements & Internships : The NIT, Calicut has an Institute-run TnP department ( Training and Placement) department which conducts a year-long placement drive for students in their final year. Various key companies such as Oracle, Goldman-Sachs, Microsoft have hired a considerable number of students from Computer Science and other circuit branches for high salaries ranging from 25L to 50L in the past. Core branches such as CS, EEE, EC, and Mech usually have a high placement percentage with CS at the top with a placement percentage of over 90%. The average salary of IT companies would be around 7-10L while core companies such as MRF, LnT offer salaries from 5-8L. Non-core companies such as Byjus, Times, etc also hire students for Sales, Marketing, Creative profiles as well. The institute also has a good alumni wherein all students are required to join in their graduating year.

Fees & Scholarships : The course fee of a JoSAA ( JEE-Main) applicant would be around 1,25,000 per annum and while DASA applicant would have to pay around 4000$ yearly.Hostel and mess fees can run up to 3-4K monthly depending on the mess taken. There are a couple of scholarships available which are open to students based on merit and family-income. There are other financial assistance programs available through the institute such as E-Grantz and loans which can be easily availed from State Bank Of India, CREC which is located a few hundred meters from the college.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : NITC has is a picturesque campus situated around 22-Kms from Kozhikode city from where there are frequent buses to the institute. Being a residential campus, the students are required to reside in the hostels in-campus. The hostels being Institute-run have a very nominal fee of around 1000Rs per month.

Clubs & Associations : There are a good number of cultural associations and clubs such as LnD ( Literary and Debating Club), ICA ( Indian Cultural Association) as well as technical clubs such as ISTE, IPF, etc. NITC has two student-run festivals, Ragam ( Cultural) and Tathva (Techno-Management) which are two of the largest college fests in India attracting huge footfalls, artists and major companies.

Academics & Faculty : For some branches it is really free schedule for others it is hell like for EEE It starts from 8 in the morning and we'll go till 6-8pm in the evening usually till 5 pm. Quality is just normal with first two years u have more ad-hoc to teach u than faculty. Also really hectic schedule and not very innovative teaching in some subjects. Outside subjects, the faculties are very supportive and encouraging for projects or other ideas but time is not there that's all. The college experience is fantastic as there are a lot of non-academic activities happening on the campus.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : There are two ways of getting admission in NITC One is the JEE Main, you need to have a decent rank in this exam to get in any of the core branches in NITC. The other is DASA Quota: in which a minimum percentile is reserved to the students studying outside based on their SAT quota

Placements & Internships : There is a selection from the campus. Cs branch has the highest number of recruiters and also other non-Cs branches like Ece and EEE are also at par with CS. Many companies like JP Morgan delloite Goldman Sach ABB Electric Microsoft Cisco Oracle Reliance comes for placement. The alumni network is pretty strong and is very helpful in case of a referral for an internship. There is on campus internships and but for off-campus internship, u only will get limited help from the training and placement cell.

Fees & Scholarships : The course fees for B.Tech at National Institute of Technology Calicut [NITC] is around 1.2-1.4 lacs. There are a lot of scholarships available for the OBC SC/ST and economically backward people and other government scholarships and private scholarships are also available. Around 40% of people get scholarships. Loans might be needed for some people. And yes they are readily available in fact during admissions they will approach u for this option. Also, the institute provides help in all these situations.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : 11 including the new hostels which are coming up and it is a nominal fee of 2k-3.5k around a month. Food is excellent and total amount is mentioned above. Some classrooms are old some buildings are new. Labs in EEE is OK but other branches are excellent there is free wifi and LAN connection in hostels and there are Computer Centre and digital library for faster data speed.

Clubs & Associations : There is a lot of student societies like technical and non-technical in fact NITC has the most cultural activities compared to other nits. Associations and clubs like IEEE, ISTE, Club Math And Dnd Team Unwired Rig Aero Unwired etc. Main festivals are TAVA and RAGAM. Campus life is awesome.

Academics & Faculty : Class starts from 8 am in the morning till 5 pm in The evening with a 2hrs lunch breaks and some free slots in the morning as well as evening sessions. The quality of education is good with faculties who have their PhDs and a lot of M.tech temporary faculties as well. Overall experience is satisfactory with a slightly monotonous life.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Students who passed 12th standard and dropped a maximum of 2 years after their 12th are all eligible. You have to give JEE mains examination and secure a rank to get admissions in the college. Cutoff depends on the rank secured by the student typically my branch i.e. Btech engineering physics if you don't have reservations (OBC, SC, ST) you need to score a rank below 13000. In the category for those who got reservations, they need a rank around 25000 in general category.

Placements & Internships : Yes, I did my internship in the college itself under the permanent faculty of the physics department of solid state physics, no stipend was given. Key companies include manufacturers of semiconductors and electronics and coaching institutes including FIITJEE, Rao academy etc. Since people prefer to go for higher studies mostly average salary is around INR 4-5 lakhs per annum. Alumni network is good as there are a lot of people doing research in foreign institutes and are regularly in contact with us giving info about latest internships and jobs.

Fees & Scholarships : B.Tech course fee at National Institute of Technology Calicut [NITC] is around 80000 INR per annum excluding hostel charges however the latest fee is around 120000 INR per annum for those whose parental income is more than INR 6 lakhs per annum others get a hefty reduction in their fees. Yes, there are a lot of scholarships available provided by central as well as state government. Since the fee is very less very few of the students require loans, they are easily available at our campus to have an SBI branch within the campus as well as a PNB bank.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are 12 hostels each reserved for a particular year, some of the hostels are new and are awesome while some of them are pretty old and look like a haunted house, hostel fee is minimal around 800 INR per month excluding mess fee. There are a lot of apartments outside the campus for bachelors who wish to live outside the hostels around INR 5k per month. Food quality is satisfactory with some variety and it charges around INR 2400 per month excluding extras (biscuits, chocolates, soft drinks etc). Key infrastructures are what you expect from technical colleges there are plenty of labs and a central library having a wide variety of books on all subjects. Internet is fast around 4 MB/secs.

Clubs & Associations : There are practically a lot of clubs in almost all the fields like RIG (robotics club), team unwired (car building), literary and drama clubs, music's clubs and much more including a lot of sports like cricket basketball, tennis, badminton etc. In general, life is satisfactory and you can have fun in these 4 yrs of life.
